I'm glad you found the blog, though. :) I also write a weekly STFUP column on Mommyish and a weekly column on SheKnows. If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure your sister-in-law is reacting too harshly based on your comment. No one should hold a grudge for years over a comment made on Facebook!

Re: MommyJacking Marathon: Milestones Edition

There IS a no violence policy, and if I miss something, that's on me. I was making an analogy and used the word "when," because obviously not all parents hold their kids back and those who do so don't all have the same reasons. But the ones who DO have that reasoning share the same mentality as the type of parent who I was describing.

Re: Concrete Ways to Be an Actual Ally to Black People

*grammar

It's fitting that you spell 'skank' correctly!

Re: Concrete Ways to Be an Actual Ally to Black People

*you're // *than

Learn grammar. Good job doing your research. PS: I have over 5000 Disqus posts because part of my job is to engage with readers and moderate comments on several websites. This is the first blog I've commented on that has nothing to do with my own site in ages. I'm on the site because one of the founders is a previous editor of mine. And I am only commenting in response to YOU because you chose to reply to ME, when I wasn't even talking to you in the first place. Keep jerking off in comment sections for fun, though. Seems like it's working out for you.

Re: Concrete Ways to Be an Actual Ally to Black People

To be clear: I wouldn't call my local precinct, because I live in a city where a cop tells my husband to fuck himself simply for asking why he's blocking the bike lane. I have limited faith in law enforcement. My voice means nothing to the cops I've engaged with in NYC. Why would I waste my time calling my local precinct? I literally do everything I can to avoid police, just like 99% of people in this country, and I'm a blonde white woman.

Re: Concrete Ways to Be an Actual Ally to Black People

You're obviously a trolling asshole.

Re: Concrete Ways to Be an Actual Ally to Black People

MY profession is a PRIVATE profession. I don't represent the people, nor is my job to serve and protect American citizens. But yes, anytime someone wants to "interrogate" (i.e. ask) me a question, they're more than welcome to do so. PS: Funny you use the word "interrogate." That's what cops do. When a person who cops are supposed to serve and protect asks a question, what normally happens is the OPPOSITE of an interrogation. Just today my husband asked a police officer why he was blocking the bike lane (because my husband almost got into an accident) on the Brooklyn Bridge and the cop's response was "Fuck you." I will call my local precinct any damn time I want. I just don't expect anyone to actually *answer.*

Re: Concrete Ways to Be an Actual Ally to Black People

You qualify calling a local precinct and asking community-driven questions about officers whose salaries and pensions are paid by tax dollars "harassment"? I was brought in at the beginning of Mommyish specifically for that purpose, and it really makes me happy that readers who might not have read the site were able to discover some very funny, very smart writers via "bridging the gap." Thanks for saying that.

Re: Fright Fest 2011: Tease & Reveal #4

Haha! This woman sounds exactly like the type of people featured on the blog. For reference (for anyone reading along), here are two "acknowledge my baby" posts.
