Here in the relatively safe suburbs, I saw a guy come into the church sanctuary strapped with a semi-automatic pistol. Seems that God's house is not worthy of having faith and trust in His peace.

It's not necessarily true that the gun debate is false; it's that such a discussion is multifaceted. And when we are accustomed to a debate consisting of only two sides, then we see only a two-sided view of the issue.
Rather than suggesting that the debate is false, I would say that it's incomplete.

To be clear, you're not saying that the Sandy Hook killer sought to purchase the weapons that he used in his killing, and was barred from doing so. The "facts" appear to be that his mother bought the weapons. He merely had ready and easy access to them.
So to finish the other half of your point, yes we do need a sharper focus on mentally uhealthy people; mentally unhealthy people with a proclivity for violence who have ready and easy access to caches of assault weaponry.

I would concede that five grand might be punitive. But then, there has to be some nominal degree of "pain" that a civilian seeking to acquire weapons of battle is willing to tolerate.

Ironically, perhaps the only reason that other effective gun/ammo measures are not in place is because money is usually the only obstacle to an elected leader doing his/her job. An exorbitant license fee of several thousand dollars is likely the only meaningful obstacle in front of the next mass shooting maniac.

[Edit:] That last sentence doesn't read well. What I meant was that a license fee of several thousand dollars would be the most meaningful of obstacles. Not that it alone would prevent the next mass shooting.

A good start to the restoration of sanity in gun ownership, would be a required license for assault-style firearms and high capacity ammo, as well as a $5,000 license fee. Gun dealers may not facilitate the license application process; each civilian applicant would be required to apply at a regional DOJ location.

When the "poor and infirmed" are aided by government, there is a perception that they have access to power. Certain conservatives resent the idea that a poor person can be powerful and influential without benefit of money or means.
But if somehow "we" can convince each other that the poor and infirmed are best helped by a handful of private charities, then chances are they remain quiet; in the shadows; and never, ever presume that they are entitled to equal power and influence.

'sa damm shame that not one lawmaker will say enough is enough, and make it just a little bit harder to acquire WMDs.

Good points. Obviously the raw foods advocates are gonna say to eat it raw.

Yes, I know of the importance of cinnamon. We buy lots of it, but it's hard to get the really good stuff without paying big $$$.

I'v read that heat immediately changes the food properties, by among other things, depleting it of its nutrients. Not completely, but enough in some cases to render a particular food devoid of its naturally occurring nutrients.

Again, it's something I've read and may or may not be true.
