And the immature name calling certainly isn't the high road. Fair enough. However, I still stand on my position that what the station did was not with honesty, integrity, and that there are plenty more Jazz fans than are being calculated here. Time to move on, sure, I'll do so, but I wasn't about to go out quietly. I loved what this station built up and to call it "arm chair music" is about as insulting as anything else I've read here. Fact is there are great Jazz artists who have spent a lifetime learning their craft. Time will be the deciding factor here and my bet is that KKSF will change their format again. As for the comments, unless I get another rebuttal, I'm gone...to XM Radio where "arm chair" music is alive and well, 24/7.

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

P.S. Michael, please note that for every listener who writes, we represent thousands of other listeners who have not. I believe you have calculated wrongly on your numbers. I'm glad you were clear that KKSF is not return to smooth jazz...that is the truest statement you've given rather than that pablum of being a "hard decision." You are wrong Mr. Erickson, you and the staff that supports you are wrong. The people of the Bay Area would have continued to support KKSF as a Smooth Jazz Station. You know I'm tempted to do some community organizing and send a gaggle of people to protest this stupid new station, but you are and the greedy folks who helped you make this move are not worth the time.

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Well, I lied, I'm back...but not to listen to the new station, but to try to write a truly parting comment. I appreciate that Mr. Erickson finally responded to the thousands of e-mail's sent his way. And, I'm glad the truth came out: this was about the bottom line, how much money the station could make. Sure there is a new station...but truth be told the damage has been done, the trust broken, the great station is over. It's like a 20 year relationship all of a sudden on the rocks with no steam left to work through the hard stuff. And, I'll add, I find it difficult to believe that there are as many people dying to hear what other stations are already broadcasting over Smooth Jazz. The simple truth is this: while there are indeed a number of markets that have left Smooth Jazz, not all of the have. There's money to be made here, but it's not as easy as it use to be. Bottom line, you did us wrong and the real price will come not with the leaving of us who have been faithful for 20 years, but with the sagging market that will be in place because you chose to follow the herd...the herd mentality will kill "The Band." You know, I remember when KKSF was known as "The Bay Area's Juke Box." That didn't last either, and they were much close to "The Band" than Smooth Jazz ever will be. This really is good-bye...and I leave with the disappointment that this station sunk so low.

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

This is my last shot at KKSF. Here goes! First, I'm upset that those in charge have not had the courage to respond to the thousands of e-mails...most especially Mr. Michael Erikson who wrote that sorry letter to the general public. Bottom line, this change is crappy. "The Band" was lame-brained idea and franky, I and a few thousand more are furious with this radio station for making this change. Needless to say I'm never coming back...I'm off to XM radio where I can here Smooth Jazz in my car, at any hour of the day. Frankly, the Bay Area got the short end of the stick with this lame change and the folks leading "The Band" need to be fired. I'm out here

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Who do we have to shake in order to make this station know that it made a huge mistake? How silly is this...another classic rock station? Thank God Los Angeles hasn't lost it's marbles and kept KTWV The Wave. But this is the San Francisco Bay Area and we deserve our Smooth Jazz radio station back. "The Band" is ridiculous and it will only be a matter of time before the station changes again.

To the fools who made this choice...it was a wrong move...period!

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Can I speak for most of us who are brave enough to leave a comment that "The Band" is a terrible mistake and we want it gone? Would it be too much to ask that Michael Erickson quit his job now...that this was a dumb idea to get rid of the Bay area's Smooth Jazz station? I'm so upset with this "extremely difficult decision." It was an extremely lame decision...bring back the jazz now!

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Do us all a favor...get rid of "The Band!" What a terrible choice...what a silly move, what a slap in the face to the Bay area! I'd like to know the names of those responsible for this change. I'd like to speak to them personally and I'd like to scold them for a very dumb move.

Re: KKSF 103.7 - Smooth Jazz

Who drank the morning cup of stupid? Who manipulated the numbers so that you could change to a rock station...a dime a dozen rock station at that? Who let the number crunchers control the what we listen to? This was a huge mistake! You guys held the corner market on Jazz in the Bay Area for twenty years and then you gave it away...for this pablum? Please! And the lame excuse of it being a hard decision...sell it somewhere else! Bring back the jazz music and get rid of this second rate radio station called "The Band (How original!)." If I want rock, I'll listen to KFOG, thank you. Let me say this clearly...this was a dumb, dumb, dumb decision! Bring back our jazz!
