I have started early kicking off the program on 8/23; I have completed about 5 of the 26 sections in the Wiley 14.0; some of the stuff is easy some confusing and some is just common sense

I am just reading the question and if I do not know the answer then I read the hint and textlink and give it my best shot if I get it wrong I read the reason why the other answer is correct and move on ..........it is ruff but I am covering alot of ground and feel it will give a better foundation once I begin my review course

so FAR is much easier to me than REG was; today I knocked out 150 MCQ and reviewed the ones I missed...... this week I plan on doing 1250 questions before kicking off my offical review I was planning on reviewing first but enjoy the questions too much so I figured what the hay why not just work them all and the ones I get wrong read up and see why I missed it and just move on like no biggie b/c during my review I can hit it harder; all of sept I review and all of oct I cram woo hoo.......3 sections down 1 to go........

just loaded up my FAR Yeager cram 19.25hrs of pure fun woo hoo I sit 11/02 for my last section on the CPA exam

I also just loaded up the Wiley 14.0 software

My goal is to put in 100hrs in September and 160hrs in October; with October being a month long cram! My goal is to memorize and understand every Wiley 14.0 question, listen and take notes on the Yeager cram, and complete my review course. Additionally, I will be working cpareviewforfree during my month of cram and working simulations. I will not work any sims until October once I begin my month of cram.

Once I achieve all these goals I will take my exam and once grades are posted hopefully by the grace of the Accounting Gods I shall be granted passage into the CPA profession!

I will come on here and give updates as always.

If you have any helpful suggestions feel free to share. This crazy plan might not be for everyone but it worked for me last quarter (with only a 100hr cram for REG) and this is my last exam so I want to go out like a champ not a chimp!

Well I passed yes sir I did it....I never gave up or lost my Faith I stuck with Phil and Wiley and my review company........it was a long battle and the road was paved with landmines......

it was not easy seeing the 66...and then .67.......but then I played the "eye of a tiger" song and whooped out the most crazy work plan.....documented in replys on Jeffs blog on how I was going to pass...........sweet chicken dinner 83 for me but for all of you online it was really a 95haha just joking.....if you do not pass do what I did it worked it worked yay and I can say now I am 75% finished ........The Accounting Gods have shown love to this devoted soul by sending a passing grade via the Great Balance Sheet(or Pumpkin) and for that I am ever so thankful.

I agree I failed 66/67 so this time I want to replace that grade with a 76 tomorrow when I wake up......I think.... like the CBT states your grade can vary on any given day for a number of factors; so you might have passed given another set of MC and SIMS........just sayin your are pretty close do not give up thousands and of ppl have to pass reg every year

it was a wild exam and I feel that to be fair you are probably right........my exam was MC easy, WOW, and WOW....Sims one good one bad....both written easy and both research totaled to equal a fat poo.

75-85 is plenty but the cram was what pushed me over the top with short-term knowledge

most of it is common sense the rest you can learn with ease; at least for me I really like the majority of topics tested........IT cost business combo I love them

You should get a email from the TSBPA when it becomes avail. I know I do.

But I agree with Wed. not Tuesday; but I will more then likely wake up and check anyway.......I do know for a fact it takes them some time to ratify your score so if they got it today tomorrow it will be ratified and then Wednsday you will have your score available for online viewing.

on another note......I read a very wise CPA argue about the pretest questions that they toss us during the exam......it is in the invitation to comments 2007 that was released last summer:

1. Why do candidates now have only 18 months to complete the CPA exam when we
(i.e., almost everyone involved in the CBT decision-making at any level) had three years?

2. The demeaning and condescending comments about candidates strikes me as, at best,
unproductive and, at worst, as an indication of the low regard that certain regulators have
for candidates. Another recent example from your October 2007 document Improving
the Uniform CPA Examination: "Candidates often do not take seriously their
responsibility to review program materials, tutorials and practice tests." (page 8.) Do you
have any evidence to back up this assertion? In the same document you admit that
problems with the simulations were also attributed to the technology. Your document
also implies that there is something wrong with candidates' behavior when they wait until
the end of the period to schedule the exam. See my comment 3., below.
I have listened to representatives of State Boards, NASBA, and the AICPA regarding this
point and I find it offensive to me personally and to the thousands of hard-working
students I have worked with in my 28 years as an educator at one of the leading
Accounting Departments in the nation. It is simply an over-generalization of the
population you are attempting to "serve." When we (the faculty) reported the results of
anecdotal evidence from a large number of our former students who were then CPA exam
candidates, we were dismissed by one NASBA official that these were "whiny" people
who complain a lot.

3. The logic of your comment on page 6 concerning deadlines escapes me. You state: "If
there is no end (to each test window), volume could well decline." How does that
follow? Further, you state that people tend to schedule tests at the end of each window,
implying that there is some aberrant behavior in this approach. Not only do I once again
not see the logic as to why this should be a factor in not allowing the exam to be open for
12 months, but why would we expect exam takers' behavior to be any different than that
of tax return filers? Of holiday shoppers? Of respondents to invitation to comments?

4. Why has NASBA taken nearly 11 months to compile the results of the 2006 CPA ...."

man please I just want a 75!!!!!!!!!! good luck everyone!.....ah it took till 8/12 before I got my notice that my state board recevied a notice on 8/10 that I took REG on 8/5.........sinking feeling they will toss me in wave2 huh.....

maybe since the number of test takers is up 10% this would explain pass rate increases and also indicate the potential for delays in score releases.........

yeah that bothers as well; but really is how could I have prepared enough to know how to answer some of the twisted curve balls they presented.......it is like a debate with yourself and what is the best answer I don't know but I like the break; I need it even if I must test again I need a break from the madness.......atleast one more week off yay! I am not hoping or thinking anything just waiting and enjoying the fact I worked really really hard at something that is worth while and challenging....

all I say about my exam is

you come and go but serious now my experience: see below

It started fine it was nice outside and my mood was positive tense but good; the first testlet was fine no problems really and then the bomb dropped and I found myself (or lost myself not sure) in the mist of gorilla like war fair at the prometric it quickly became and actually it was quite a brutal battle with a elusive snipe with some very very strange questions I have never encountered and very difficult questions that kept harping on the same topics over and over repeatedly pelting my with armor piercing bullets; after I made it through the 3 testlets I went into sims with a very low vitality score and if I was in a first person shooter I would be like down to my last life or so.......and then the mortal confidence killing of a huge sim with so many tabs I could not even recall how many but take my word for it the tabs went from one end of the screen to another so in dismay I ignored the negative event and went straight for my written portion for some salvation and luckily it offered some relief the other tabs were tricky and I filled in what I could gave up and picked something on the research and moved on b/c time was low and I knew I had a better shot in working the next one if I had the right sim and time......so now it is like 38mins and one sim my blood boiling and infection from all the trauma has weight heavy on my clarity and thought process it was sink or swim time do or die leave no man stand type of experience but I got a easy sim and I filled in every tab with ease actually really easy and then a cherry on top easy written part with 25mins left and then all but finished I was feeling messed up in the whole mix but I made it and went to the research tab and got another lame duck go fetch question and then I guessed and ended my exam with 4 seconds to spare..........it hurt knowing that no matter how much I would of studied I would not have been able to answer those crazy questions any better......and so know I ask......Jeff when do you think I will get my grade and do you think from all your analysis of other peoples encounters what are my chances of getting into wave 1!!!!!

Also why can’t they work with Microsoft to get a quality sim program established using Word/Excel!!!!!!!!!!

you need to move past a slow pace review; work all the problems over 7 days and fly through all the other lectures you have not one minute to spare and take notes read all material then work all the problems two or three more times and hard topices even more; and work all sims and you will be fine

that's about as good as it gets; or pay a fee and sit in OCT if you can

work everyday as much as you can
