X (As in Malcom X) by Spike Lee (Hands down, an uplifting film with an empowering theme. iMean what else did Malcolm stand for? Exactly!).....undeniably one of the most amazing films ever. Nothing but criticism and 👎🏻 from the governing award bodies. Right? Right! Roots, Django, 12 Years A Slave, The Butler.....etc......(movies that showed US in a very docile manner) received nothing but accolades and praise. As long as we're submissive, that's ok. The moment we're in power (like Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor and the heavenly host of the best black comedians that were in the AMAZING FILM Harlem Nights) that not only gets frowned upon, but it gets 0 stars by the film critics. And iPromise you 85% of white never ever heard of Harlem Nights. iGet it. WE all get it and have gotten it forever. It's just hilarious that after all this time, they still don't quite understand.
