And loooong too, I like that, kept me reading for a long time while being interrupted by my wife with annoyingly uninteresting questions like "do you think we should get a new set of coffee mugs? These yellow ones are on sale..." (who cares about the f$%€ coffee mugs!)

Anyway, I like Donphan too, but then I don't cuz I run a ZPS variant (which a contrare to what many experts are saying is a very solid agressive deck IF paired with some awesome other attackers!) so Donphan is my Kryptonite. So I am very interested in your article! Sun tzu said: "Know your enemy to know your self" he was a smart geeza.

So, thanks for a great read and yes, in playtesting I used pachi and shay (in combination with seeker sometimes to "replay" the card) to move energy to power samurott and so far it worked really well. I also used Panpour in playtesting, a fast water stage 1 pokemon everyone seems to dislike, it has great attacks (water burn and 3 flips for 30d each) and that one worked very well also, although more of a gamble.

Great stuff, looking forward to your next piece!

Greetings from the Netherlands

Re: Kenny’s Wisdom: MEGAZORD

Good article and interesting deck list!
On the topic of paid content/secret decks etc I might have some fresh insight to add: as a social media coach one of the things I study and work on/with are sites that offer premium content next to free content, wether its video/text/audio... It's nothing new and it has been around for a long time. Some companies live on providing tools and platforms to create such portals to offer paid-to-use/read/view premium content.

The debate about wether such content is truly worth its money or as in this case, is giving up all the information in a transparent, honest way, has been around for just as long.
Sites that offer the best (read: premium) chess plays (or other competitive sport) , online learning material or "inside" stock exchange/broking advice are popping up around the web. They struggle with the same issues. Or worse. A grudge because you got the "wrong" information about a certain deck? How about having invested 5k into the wrong company because some premium blog about investment said it was the "ultimate" money maker right now?

To expect very advanced, actively competitive players, to give up their own deck lists is unrealistic, and, I think, not the purpose of the UG content. On the other hand, "misleading" paying readers/customers by hyping other decks that those writers will never use themselves is.... mwah... (making an ugly face)

The worst thing to do, though, is to ignore readers/customers, when they ask you about it, that's just not a good way to go. The best thig to do would be to engage that conversation head-on and explain why you made that choice. No need to get all wired up, overly defensive, or whatever. Simply talk about your choice and engage... ignoring it will just make it worse and will (as in this case) blow it up tenfold. Such is the way of social media.

Maybe it's an idea to have one person as a spokesperson for the UG content so writers can send readers/customers to him/her if they have questions, complaints... that's how companies run their customer service and that's what you're running too when you manage a paid premium content site.

Anyway.... I like the idea of UG content here on sixpizes, haven't subscribed to it yet but surely will, simply because I believe the content is truly "premium".

Re: Rogues’ Gallery: Emerging Powers and the Search for Spock

Great article. I do think that the ZPS "testing" was a little biased. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed reading it, but I run and playtested ZPS a lot and am convinced that its a good setup, íf you team it up with some other main attacker(s). Júst running Zekrom is just kinda stupid and unrealistic. I heard the canadian nats winner even had a Reshiram in his deck to keep Kingdra's attack low and to have a fire tech on board.

Teaming ZPS with Yanmega Prime or Magnezone or any other solid performer (Zoroark as a counter card fe) will greatly enhance the effectiveness of a ZPS deck and provide solid mid to late game performance. T1 Bolt Strike is cool but you need to be extremely fortunate in the draw (and/or flip) as you showed us here, and through playtesting it myself, had concluded also. But being able to Outrage in T2 and get Bolt Strike up by T3 (and have a Zekrom and another attacker on the bench) is also a good early match setup right?

That's my personal opinion anyway :-)

But... good article and entertaining read! Keep up the good work!

Re: Top 32 Nationals Report with Vilebox

Great tourney report!
