I've had some breakthroughs recently in this area and it's incredible when it happens :)

Re: How To Write Content That Sells: The Anatomy In A 6-Figure Post

Yes, Nathan nailed it. Basically you want to try and find that nice mix of what gets shared and what begins the selling process. For one example... I might write a completely epic blog post about social media, but since my focus in my business is not social media whatsoever, it wouldn't lead to any sales.

So what I would do is figure out a way to tie social media into being part of your overall marketing funnel (in this case, I'd make it very controversial/heated by saying it's usually A or B, but the real power lies in combining A & B), showing people how to maybe segment social media visitors into a uniquely segmented funnel, which are sold differently, and make sales that way.

That way it both gets more traction, AND demonstrates my expertise which would contribute to actual sales.

Hope that makes sense!

Re: How To Write Content That Sells: The Anatomy In A 6-Figure Post

That's awesome Travis!

For me personally, my best ROI has been guest posts. I have other businesses where the ROI is better on its own site, but for my consulting business I've done the best through guest posts. That's mostly because I've kind of neglected my own site ;)

Re: How To Write Content That Sells: The Anatomy In A 6-Figure Post

Thanks Rahul. On the 80/20 I absolutely 100% agree. The big thing in doing this is figuring out what they want to hear, and making sure they hear it (as long as your skills live up to the hype). Or just Chrome for the beta?

Re: Landing Page Optimization – The Easy Way

Billy,

Basically it's the overall "hook" of your website, service, etc. For example one them can be your guarantee. Another theme could be relating your product to something topical (for example I recently wrote a tax promo talking about Mitt Romney's low taxes even though he has a high income). Or it could be an "Us vs. Them" argument.

Basically it's the one main argument your entire page or website is based on. In your case, it would be your unique selling proposition (e.g. why your homebrewing course is better than magazines, figuring it out yourself, etc.)

Hope that makes sense!

Re: What goes around comes around. So they basically feeding the flame to an already broken system.

Re: Breaking Down A "Next Level" Headline

Hey Marc,

I think I may have heard it from Eban Pegan somewhere? And Eben got it from an old-school copywriter who used an egg timer to write for 33 minutes and 33 seconds at a time ;) A business coach of mine does the same thing but works in 20 minute chunks. You have to experiment to see what works best for you.

Re: Why My Google AdWords Account Was Suspended & What I’m Doing About It

Ouch!

Maybe I've just been lucky then...

Yea, I totally agree that their customer service is despicable. I nearly always get a response back from them.

The trick is being NICE to them. Show that you're actively trying, genuinely are trying to help people and promote a good site, etc. and they'll help.

They do for me at least :)

I don't promote my copy services on there anymore though as they don't allow testimonials/success stories, etc. And having no proof of my results isn't exactly a good way to get people to spend several grand to get copy written ;)

Jeremy

Re: Forcing Efficiency

Thanks man, I'll check it out ;)

Re: Forcing Efficiency

Great stuff Ryan... me and you are very much alike ;)

I have a hard time with deadlines for PERSONAL projects though.
