But I still can't find anything about it in the book. Just another inconsistency between the Codex's I guess. :)

-Reece

Re: Which Codex for White Scars?

Uhm... I could have sword DA Speeders can Deepstrike. I thought in 5th, all Skimmers could Deepstrike. I guess I'll have to look it up to be sure.

-Reece

Re: White Scars army underway

So... you want to play with a lot of Termies and some Bikes. And you think White Scars matches that? :) Why not paint em up like Deathwing and Ravenwing?

See, if you wanted to play an all mounted (Rhinos, Razorbacks and Bikes) then I'd say White Scars (or any successors) would be perfect. Or if you wanted to play with a ton of crazed close combat troops, I'd say go for Black Templars or Space Wolves. If you wanted to use a ridiculous amount of Jump Pack troops, go with Blood Angles.

But if you're wanted to use a lot of Termies with some Bikes for support, that screams Doublewing. :)

However, I'm sure you're tired of painting Black. :) And you already have some very nicely painted White Scars bikers. That and... well... I enjoy ribbing you when I get the chance. :)

-Reece

Re: White Scars army underway

Based on the photo, you're not really doing a Biker Army are you? It looks a lot more like a Deathwing Army with slight Ravenwing compliment. :)

Had I known you planned on using more Termies than Bikes I'd have suggested the DA Codex. :)

-Reece

Re: Priming With Acrylic Gesso

I have a horrible habit of converting or just adding bitz to minis that are completed or partially completed. Some brush applied primer would be AWESOME for this. :) I normally just apply a few coats of Chaos Black until it sticks... I'm definitely gonna try this one out.

-Reece

Re: Which Codex for White Scars?

A couple things (I think) you missed. :)

On the Attack bikes, it's the other way around. For DA you can buy an Attack Bike, but it HAS to run solo. It can never attach to the squad. For SM, the Attack Bike has to attach to the squad and it can never run solo. Unless you buy a single Attack Bike for a Fast (kinda silly). With DA you can't buy Attack Bike squadrons. :(

With the Speeders, in DA you can only have one Typhoon and/or one Tornado in the Squad of one to five Speeders. With SM, you can have all three as Typhoons and or Tornados. PLUS, you get the new "awesome" Typhoon. :)

I forgot to tell you about the goodness that is the new Typhoon too. :) With a Heavy Bolter and the Missle Launcher, a squadron of three can fire NINE Heavy Bolter Shots and SIX S4 blast templates to obliterate light infantry from 36" away since the blast templates are S4 (defensive). You could also opt to fire SIX S8 Krak Missiles at 48" to eat up Light and Medium armor if you're done with the infantry.

Don't get me wrong, they're still paper airplanes. But combined as support for the right units, they can be devastating. :)

And for me... as a veteran (maybe a little less then veteran) Doublewing player and a White Scars successor fan, I'd go with the SM Dex. Remember that not all White Scars ride Bikes. But if they're not, they should be mounted in APCs. :)

-Reece

Re: FtW Round Table: Must have units

For my Chaos Marine army, it's my Tzeentch marked DP with Warp Time, Wind and Wings. :) For my Daemon army, it's the Lord of Change. My Loyalist army has tons of different "flavors" so there's nothing that sticks over all of them.

-Reece

Re: FtW Round Table: Your 40k pre-game ritual

To the best of my knowledge, I don't have any many pre-game rituals. I have, however, started gathering all my dice in blocks of nine by color (don't care about facings). It helps me count out dice and prevents me from losing any (or snagging someone else's) dice. I keep nine of each color of dice I have with my main army. Maybe it's in subconscious homage to Tzeentch. :)

-Reece

Re: Playing an Armoured Company

Yeah. In 4th, I had problems with Daemonic Speed Daemon Princes. Having a MC that can cover 24" in a turn is a pain (for anyone really) for AC. You had to hope that Demolisher can double him out. Not an option anymore though. :(

I'm willing to bet that a good bit of your Termies kills were attained in Close Combat.

I'm also pretty sure that based on was Daemon armies run, AC will have definite problems with them. Especially since they can run after they Deep Strike. We don't get that one round of "Please let this thing hit!" :)

-Reece

Re: To have the first turn or not?

Well, I've only played Daemons in 5th... so I like to go second most of the time. I sorta make my opponent waste a turn of shooting and I get last turn to snag objectives. I guess the only time it would be bad is if my opponent also has a lot of stuff coming in on turn two. Then I guess it could be bad...

Anyway... With Daemons, I like to choose second. :)

-Reece

Re: The games we play while playing 40k

So the whole time you're just joking around Ron? For the longest time I thought you were actually... "challenged". :)

-Reece
