I agree. But I think the Economist Cover Page depicting a soldier with wires stuck to his body and his face covered with a black hood is also a powerful picture that also depicts the course of the war.

okay, this is one of those we-all-talk-crap-and-end-it-with-a-probability discussion. So I might as well contribute my opinion as this post is begging for one ;) :

I think its crap to say "men are like this" and "women are like that". There is no generalization or stereotyping in here. I have seen several men who have vowed to never bother themselves with politics and several women who can not only talk politics but also indulge in it.

Chariot of the Gods is a "supernatural" TRUE STORY :). I mean it analyszes whether aliens came to earth or not by "deciphering" the hidden signs of the Incas (I think) something similar to the "Signs" story. I remember the author also I think Erik Van Gurken or smbody.

I remember being "inspired" after reading the book when I was in sixth :)

I do "LOVE" animal farm. But I think 1984 is more like my kind of book. Too eerie and too real.

As usual I am late to addressing the arguments.

Ash- I understand there are physical differences in men and women. But when men can become women and vice versa arent these distinguishing features blurring? I have seen many women who dress like men, who think like men. There were several women terrorists in the beslan siege? so wat does that say about the "characteristic" of being "gentle" of a women?

I am not sure of the brain patterns thing. But well I think the only aspects that might be differnt will the physique. But I think science will discover solutions for that too!

Thats a goood idea. But the fact is music companies are like cockroaches. They know how to survive and wont give up without a fight. So to make it easier for their survival and for ourelves to suffer the least from their fight for survival, I think we need to think of compromises! :)

I am assuming you are meaning, the developed nations are moving towards a diet of healthy food and hence the backlash.

It is possible. But the fact that Subway or any of these healthy alternatives havent got the profit they shud be having (coz of the Mc loss) doesnt seem to agree with that principle. The backlash seems to be against some of the fast food companies and not all.

I think McDonald's is right now threatened by its own catastrophic success, which has eclipsed its actual mission of serving fast food to being a metaphor for globalisation and all its evils within the "golden arches".

SuperSizeMe doesnt help either. I wudnt say Americans or the citizens of other developed nations are now much more healthy. They arent. And they arent trying to reduce either (unlike Singapore! :)).

Your principle is perfectly true for Singapore where not just the people but the government is indulging in an "exercise" of activity.

For Developing nations the symbol of Mcs is the symbol of their growing size. As far as I know, when McDonalds, KFC were starting up in India it was considered "cool" to eat in there. I think it shows their eagerness to become a part of the west :) .

as usual I am TLTTP (my own, "Too Late to the Party"). Anyways, my question is why does religion matteR? what matters if hindus convert or christians convert? Does conversion lead to a leap of faith? Only in a rare few. Do we as hindus practice hinduism in what it needs to be? I dont think so.

I think its best to ignore such antics and not fuel the fire of religious separatists. Religion is a philosophy for me. All this conversion stuff is just politics. And we all know how fragile political alliances and allegiances are.
