Thank the Lord!!! I moved here to NJ 2 years ago and what a Pain In The Ass! I came from Washington. State so had experienced it as I travelled through Oregon and it was nice, but living here I dislike it very much. They're slow and I worry about CC info being stolen, granted I lived in inner city Newark so my perceptions could be skewed.

Six weeks???? Wow that's early!! I bottle feed mine from birth and wean them at 3-1/2 months. When we let babes nurse some moms have let them nurse up to 9 months.

I have one due on Monday! Can't wait, they will be mini-manchas!! The dad is a beautiful blue-eyed Nigerian dwarf!

Frank just informed us that someone actually had the audacity to call the cops because they were worried about the goats. Not sure exactly what they were worried about but ALL the talk the last hour has been how horrible it is that the door was left open - RIDICULOUS!

Baby is JUST FINE, did you NOT just listen to Frank??? He had a vet come out. It's definitely MORE than I would have done. I've raised goats for 30+ years. It is NOT uncommon whatsoever for goats to be born and have trouble walking. BUT for 90% of them a day or two is all they need and then they "fix" themselves.

Disbudding - removing the horn buds at age 3 to 7 days old so they don't grow horns. It involves taking a hot iron and burning the horn bud off.

People eat both sexes. Granted most will kill the males first because they aren't necessary, but if there aren't any males then you eat the young females.

How active were you are a few hours old? LOL!! She really is fine. Just a few minutes ago she was up and walking around and nursing. She just had the hardest time with delivery being the biggest and probably was a bit twisted and squished inside. She got colostrum in her by morning she'll be bouncing around.

EXACTLY! I've only watched every once in a while and I saw her nurse 2 or 3 times! She just needed some time to recuperate from being born.

I just don't agree with all the excess human interference that's all. I don't CAE test or give shots either. I do use wormer and medicines if they get sick.
