While I agree that some black women or some women period don't deserve chivalry men should never let the reaction of "some" influence they're actions toward the rest. I happen to appreciate a man who can display chivalry. It is charming to some of us.

If a man were to approach me on the street looking a mess and speaking incorrectly I would keep walking. That does not work for alot of black women. Some of us expect more from men.

I am so grateful that I grew up with a father to show me what a real man is.....Because of my father I know what not to accept from a man. Some black women don't have that advantage. Yet I don't think they should be blamed for the behavior of black men. Everyone is responsible for their own actions.

The crack epidemic also ruined black men. Black women watched as black men sold the white man's drugs to the black community. This is probably when black men became a "burden" rather than an ally. Still the same this cannot excuse ignorant behavior.

Well I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. Men and women handle money very differently. It's rare that you hear about a wealthy black female celebrity going broke. Why? Because women have more SENSE. You won't see women spending a hundred grand on strippers. When black women get money we go buy a sensible size house, a car or two (usually without all the rims and TVs), maybe go buy some clothes and shoes, spend some on the kids, and that's it.

When black men get money they gotta have the fancy cars, the huge homes, the hundred dollar plus shoes and clothes, they gotta support the whole HOOD, they gotta get a non-black woman (who usually walks away with half in light of divorce), they gotta get 3-10 kids by multiple women (therefore they have to pay child support), and they tend to get in trouble at some point (usually with the law).

I see a big difference in MOST (not all) black women who come from the hood and black men who come from the hood who strike it rich. Though I admit this is not a race issue (whites go broke too)....I don't think anyone can deny that black men tend to be the world's biggest fuck ups when it comes to the most sensible common sense issues.

Max_Reddick, I don't mean to stab anyone....least of all the black men who are doing right. Black men (as a collective)...I don't care what class they are in don't typically display chivalry in any way, shape or form towards black women or all women for that matter. I have been around some of the "best of the best" yet many just don't have it. The problem could be that they don't know better.

I don't mean to offend any of the good guys. When I typically speak of these things I speak of individuals as a collective (example...in many of my post I say "Black men, Black women, or African Americans" Because that's the way we are usually judge....as a collective). One black man screws up it typically falls on all black men. I'm not saying it's right but that's society for you.

Think about this: What type of women are responding to the men who are rude to them? Not the kind I hope you would want to be with. Is a woman worth being with if she can accept being treated like dirt? No! Should physically attraction overrule common sense in the opposite sex? NO!

There are a number of us out here who don't look down on a man that knows how to treat a lady. I will agree we might be few and far in between but we are here. Just as I tend to slap black women around on this blog about their foolishness, black men like yourself need to start checking black men who don't display chivalry.

Sorry but I disagree. Hollywood is PREYING on the disappointment of black women with black men....that's a MAIN reason why we see black women being paired with non-black men. Notice that it's rare that you see a black man paired with a non-black woman when the story centers around his character. Why? Because they (Hollywood players) know that black women will not support the feature. However, films centered around black women most often have the black actress paired with a non-black man. This could be in part because it's more acceptable to society but I think a main part of it is because that's what black women want to see or have no problem seeing.

Black women are more likely to go the movies than black men. Hollywood wants to keep them happy. Who grows up watching and dreaming of fairy tales? Women. Who has always been seen as the gallant man? White men.

No one is saying Disney is sending a social message (though I think I read somewhere that they are shooting for diversity with this film). I'm saying Disney is not stupid enough not to notice and prey on the problems between black men and black women. Realize that little black girls do dream of Prince Charming.....In today's world Prince Charming probably isn't a black man. Has Hollywood taking note of this? I think so....Disney which owns ABC, part of Lifetime, ESPN, and many more channels has to have notice. Hell all they have to do is turn to BET.

Would Disney have attempted to pair a white princess with a black prince? No (and it probably won't happen anytime soon). So, why do you think they feel comfortable pairing a black princess with a non-black prince? THINK ABOUT IT!

Last I checked Tyler Perry makes "Black Movies" and he's making BANK. By your definition of a "black movie"---one in which black men are paired with black women---both Denzel Washington and Will Smith also make "black movies" yet they make BANK. Their films make hundreds of millions of dollars.

Sir, with all due respect I don't think any woman would be checking for a man who shares your ideology anyway. So, there is no beef there. You won't offer....women will keep walking! Chivalry is a WANT...not a NEED.

While some may think chivalry is conditional...women know the truth.....sex is conditional too. Who needs who more again??? I think we all know the answer to that question. I'm willing to bet those men who did give up there seats have no problem getting the attention or respect from QUALITY women.

Have you read the post and comments on here by women. This problem is greater with BLACK MEN....than men of other races. One lady has said she's just happy to get civility from black men...which is telling. Society doesn't expect much from black men and black women really don't seem to expect much from black men.

Again...who is really hurting by you holding off on showing chivalry? Chivalry is a WANT....not a NEED. Black women will continue to dream about the gallant man with the white face and skin while not expecting much from black men at all. The only thing your lack of chivalry does is put you in a position where the women of your race view you as less than that gallant man.

First, let's get the facts straight....it's white society that attacks black men....not black women (as a collective). Your beef should be with them...not black women. It's white women who took "your" jobs with feminism...not black women (as a collective). Your beef should be with them.

This goes back to what I said in the post about black men being feminized. Throughout ALL your post you've shown one thing: You love to play the VICTIM. REAL MEN....suck that shit up and handle their business. If pleasing a woman means opening a car door for her most men (or at least those who grew up watching a productive father figure) will do it (if only to reek some type of reward from her later).

I agree with you on one point: Women aren't obligated to respond/men aren't obligated to offer. Which is why black women are quick to respond to men who are non-black who do offer. These men not only offer but they treat black women with MORE respect. If you have any doubts go to a public place and just observe an interracial couple that involves a black woman and a non-black man. Why are black women so quick to respond to chivalry from non-black men? Because black women are not use to this type of "wooing" and "treatment" from black men.

Again here is proof of the fact that black men have become feminized. I suppose I will have to write a post on the "role reversal" in the black community. Women have the power in this world. The sooner you learn that the better off you will be. You can stay on the feminist movement as you wish. But as I have stated before you are NOT hurting me or any other black woman by not displaying chivalry. Umm the last time I checked ALL black women give ALL black men LIFE without pre-condition. If black women did hold a pre-condition for something so NATURAL as bearing and raising black men you wouldn't be born. There goes your obligation.....it's more than we can say for most black men (fathers), who seem to feel no obligation at all to their seeds let alone black women. Most mothers feel obligated to care for their children (not to say that all fulfill this duty but most do).

How so? It's usually white people doing the oppressing in this world. They have all of the power. If a dog is constantly beaten....how long will it be before that dog jumps up and bites the hell out of its abuser? That's the situation white people are having to face. The hate that comes their way is in my opinion often justifiable. If they would stop fucking people up with their "white man's burden" doctrine the world would be a better place. You say you use chivalry as a "tool" that to me signals you tend to think it is a weapon of sorts. This is why I continue to use the word: HURT.

How so? By giving it all to white companies? African Americans as a collective don't have any wealth. Yes, the black dollar is powerful but it doesn't scratch a dent in percentage of wealth spent by other racial groups.

Welcome...I'm glad you like my blog. I hope to hear more from you. I also know white people who would swear they're not racist but hold some type of negative view of black people. I had a white roommate in college. She would say stuff like, "I can't believe that's your real hair...Are you sure you don't wear a weave? Most black girls do." Yet if you called her on it she would say, "I'm not prejudice. I fuck with black men."
