This is why when she's with me I work with my 10 year old niece and look out for my other niece who just entered college last year. The people who are in charge (Some not all but too many) it seems these days are more so concerned about making themselves look good and covering their asses when they screw up, it stop being about the kids a long time ago sadly. Plus let's not forget all the other things like budget cuts and overcrowding etc. We need to tell our girls and boys that despite everything a lot is still possible and work with them.

This is really sad. :( It's fitting though cause I was looking at the Betty Jean Owens case from 1959. Though her rapists were sent to trial and shockingly found guilty there was out rage about the verdict. One woman wrote the Judge saying "Black Women liked to be raped by white men." I wish that women like Mrs. Taylor and other who weren't as fortunate get some justice :(.

I knew they did that medicine but I didn't know they did that for law. Thanks so much I'm going to look those up. =] I don't mind traveling at all since I was thinking of International law at one point and my parents took me all over the Islands and Central America. I'm learning Japanese as we speak so I will try to apply over in Japan. They also have a program over their were you teach and they give like $60,000 and free housing etc. Also I look at the programs here home. Thanks again.

EXACTLY! That's what I was talking with one of the Lady's who visited our school. Makes no sense to go to a school that cost as much as Harvard but doesn't come with the perks of Harvard.

Funny you mention Georgia State because I visited their while I was in Atlanta along with Emory and John Marshall. GSU was my Fave out of the three and is were I would go if I went to school in Atlanta. Also FAMU has a law school as well that cost like $10,000 a year as well as Howard. Tulane in New Orleans is my dream school but it of course comes with the Greatest price tag. I want to work for the New Orleans Saints as part of their legal department and they have programs were I can work with the Saints while I'm in Law school which will *cross fingers* lead to a Job there when I finish and pass the bar. Of course I'm going to need a big scholarship etc to help pull that off from Tulane. But heck if I go to GSU I can work with the Falcons or Orlando I can work with the Magic or DC with the Redskins.

Thanks! =D Well for me not getting into debt was part of me working my butt of in high school. I did Dual enrollment so I got my AA degree at 17. So basically I got my first two years of college free. Then I got a scholarship from famu and my parents had florida pre paid put aside for me. So I only paid like $900 total a semester and it was only that much because I always take over 15 hours. Also since my Pops retired when I was still in middle school I got money from uncle sam since I was a minor. My parents saved that for me and that's what I live out of now. I'm thankful for it :)

Trust me you're not the first to mention this. I've been research cost for law school with my mother who is a mathmatican.When I was at the Law Forum in Atlanta I was listening to the students talking about loans etc and I simply refuse to do so. Also when we were talking about cost they said not to worry about it. Uh why not worry about it? It will be there when I graduate. I've already told myself I'm not going to ivy league cause I don't want to nor am I going to a school that cost as much as they do. Also another trend I've been finding is a lot of lawyers are trying to get into corperate. Outside of the Sports world I have no interest in it.Since My focus is criminal as well. Can get a lot ijn small town I come from to last me. Also like I mentioned before I'm wil to do law school part time so I can work while I'm there

Now I was born in 90 so I grew up in the age of Digital Cable and better internet. Yes I confess I used wait till my folks were asleep and watch it. Also I found some tapes in my big bro stash. I'm getting ready to graduate in the Spring...with no debt! *hits Dougie* lol anyways I'm getting a Masters since I'm graduating a year early then heading to Law school. I've been doing research on scholarships and grants for young minorities females in the legal field. It's a little hard because alot of them are need based, with me being the daughter of teachers I'm the middle category in "We're too rich to get any aid but not rich enough to do it all out of pocket" So alot of times people in my category have to take out loans and that's what I'm refusing to do.
I'm even thinking of doing Law school part time after my first year since you have to be full time during your first year and even then you can only work 20 hours a week.
My parents are saying they got my back but in the same time I want to branch out on my own and start doing things for myself. I'm looking to be a Sports law and Criminal Lawyer. Hence why I'm going to law school in a certain area so I
can get myself built up. It will be a long hard road but if I end up leaving Law school with little to no debt it will be worth it. I also did my research on lawyers out of school.l I know more than likely I won't be making $100,000 straight out of law school but seeing as the type of law I'm going into has a high demand of Minority women I'm going to use that to my advantage. Of course I'll be networking in law school as well as I'm doing now. I want to work for a PR firm so I can get myself accustom to the business since I'm doing Sports law. Also since I'm doing Criminal which go hand in hand with Sports law when you think about it. Also you can teach at a University with your JD which is what I want to do later on in life. All I can do is hope everything works out.
