I think this is helpful when you think of branding for your company or yourself. It may be a good tool to verify if a certain keyword to be used as username is still available.

Too bad this gadget doesn't have a way of connecting to my bit.ly account. When I shorten a link with the gadget, it isn't picked up by bit.ly in my account. That would be a nice addition.

I usually already store MP3s and video on a separate disk. So my backups are just of my home directory and my work partition, which holds all my projects.

After reading this article I wanted to comment in order to try to get hold of a free copy of the book, but I got discouraged. But then I realized that this is exactly what you're talking about: "you need to be committed, confident and passionate about what you do or you’ll end up giving up".

This is usually my problem: I'm passionate, but the overwhelming amount of information on the web chews on my confidence, which in turn messes with my commitment.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll just say what I want to say, in my own way. It WILL be different, because it's MY voice!

BTW: small typo in step 4: "(the ones that you chose in step 4)" should be step 3

Yes, I do personally think that you should bring your blog persona to life.Give her an account at the most used social networks, give her an email address, give her a face, even if it's a drawing. But be sure to link her to your blog, so people who "meet" her online, will understand her "story" better.

I disagree. If you found something interesting through someone else, it's a courtesy to give credit to that person for bringing that info to your attention. You're just saying "@xyz pointed me to this information that I found useful and want to share with the rest of you".

Lots of people I follow constantly tweet, but I only retweet stuff that I find interesting enough to share. Then, it doesn't matter if you're @richrecruiter or the guy with only 10 followers!

On the other hand, I do believe that it IS being abused by many for ass kissing. But that doesn't mean it is.

Ow, by the way, IMO, about 75 - 90% of what's being spread around the web is unoriginal. I, for instance, find your name very unoriginal. But... taste differs.

I didn't have any trouble with Gmail today. I've been mailing constantly, without interruption. I did notice the Twitter delays though. But I think that's because f the whole race for 1 million ordeal.
