When I shorten a link with the gadget, it isn't picked up by bit.ly in my account. But then I realized that this is exactly what you're talking about: "you need to be committed, confident and passionate about what you do or you’ll end up giving up".

This is usually my problem: I'm passionate, but the overwhelming amount of information on the web chews on my confidence, which in turn messes with my commitment.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll just say what I want to say, in my own way. If you found something interesting through someone else, it's a courtesy to give credit to that person for bringing that info to your attention. You're just saying "@xyz pointed me to this information that I found useful and want to share with the rest of you".

Lots of people I follow constantly tweet, but I only retweet stuff that I find interesting enough to share. Then, it doesn't matter if you're @richrecruiter or the guy with only 10 followers!

On the other hand, I do believe that it IS being abused by many for ass kissing. But that doesn't mean it is.

Ow, by the way, IMO, about 75 - 90% of what's being spread around the web is unoriginal. I, for instance, find your name very unoriginal.
