Sorry to hear the news. Larry Doss was like so many other long time radio folks in the valley- AN INSTITUTION. I guess its more of the same for local corporate radio and a sign of the economic times we are a livin'n in....

I wish BW was available in other areas around the Valley except just Boise. I dont agree with all the BW topics covered...but increasingly Do agree I can live without the Idaho Statesman. Perhaps it was not Deeds intent to come off that way, but it does appear the Idaho Statesman has lost touch with the people that used to be readers/subscribers.

Based on the crappy way ESPN covered the Oregon -BSU game...I would have rather have been listening to the radio audio on the Idaho BSU game anyway!!!!

Given the local economy...that is kind of like being on the Titanic and saying...."Gee, you think the water is rising as fast as it was....?" Maybe things are better off in some far off distant market(s) but from what I hear from friends they tell me its pretty tough out there on sales.... What do you all say....Getting better, staying the same or becoming worse????

Not surprising. Most of the "profits" that are being touted by Wall Street are the result of cost cutting measures exactly as described in the case of our "favorite local publisher". In some cases these cuts for some listed firms include cuts in research and development in an attempt to pad their earnings statements. This is great short term but when you cut into the muscle of a corporate body eventually the body will lose its support system and lose its ability to function. Fat is where its at but ugly goes to the bone.

I would go so far as to speculate that Peak has been getting so many rather nasty calls about the DISRUPTION in the normal programmng that the receptionist finally told the GM to tell the cyberguy to "DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALL THE CALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and NOW!"

I also suspect that the webpage posting is rather sanitized version of what actual callers said...aka they were not really very happy when they learned that they now had to make a choice between two leading conservative hosts...(hint, hint.... GO ON LINE...find another Beck affilate somewhere that streams the show and listen in your office or home etc during the old afternoon time zone...) A shameless plug for a US company I have no financial interest in...C Crane Company...Fortuna California has technologies that can make it fairly painless to mind and pocketbook....You too former Glenn Beck listeners can embrace the technology of time shifting as well...

Oh, and how can it really be LOCAL if it is coming from Arizona???? isnt that stretching the truth just a wee bit....or is this just a PEAK at the future......

I caught just a little bit of his show today... and what I heard was decent and hopeful...cannot say more until I have listened more...

I did get a kick out of the comment...."the area code for Idaho is 208"

Sure glad he had to tell me and anyone else here that....Must have been a little embrassin' for him too when he realized what it sounded like on this end of the radio dial....

I will say this, The afternoon guy sounds a heck of a lot better than the new morning dude... I tried to listen this morning and could not stand it... If I took him hunting for deer, I am convinced he would shoot at everything in his path neither hitting it nor the deer that might pass by.... Seems to need some serious focus and direction in his thought process and presentation.

Maybe, Maybe not. IF it is a problem, The "Local" paper will have a ball with it in their paper.

Have not seen it happen in a while but in the past ASCAP, BMI and other organizations had a ball making sure that competing media got a press release whenever they were suing, complaining etc against a member of the radio community. It was always a great way of shaming them and making them look like fools,etc.

Who knows. Maybe the legal copyright owner of the Virus will let it slide...HOWEVER, its unlikely since to enforce the copyright they must make every effort to protect it.....knowingly letting someone use it without proper authorization or licensing can reduce their chances of keeping it. If they dont care who uses it.....WHY DID THEY COPYRIGHT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE....DUH.
