How do you identify and reach decision makers? How do you develop urgency in your sales process?
- Hustle
- Where do you want to be in 5 years?

Lots more to talk about. In fact, I should probably write a blog post on the topic.

@rbeale

Re: Living the marketing dream via multi-channel attribution

Great Post, Hugo. At HubSpot, we've been working on solving the ROI attribution probelm (first touch versus last touch), what events/behaviors of website visitors are influencing a prospect to purchase, along with many other things. It certainly is not an easy problem to solve, but there are heavy analytics commpanies like omniture, coremetrics, free tools like GA and others trying to help out.

I agree that even if a marketer is not quite ready for that level of granularity, they need to start somewhere. After all, data wins :)

@RBeale

Re: New Director of Search

Congrats, Alan!!!

Re: http://estromberg.com/post/4778188872

Great Post, Eric.

I couldn't agree more with #2, #4, #7. As non-developer who went from working in the corporate world to joining start-ups 4 years ago, I really found 1)Doing some research and homework on the start ups that I wanted to work for 2) networking with people in those industries for introductions 3) Blogging about my opinions on that industry 4) Actually cold calling/cold-emailing them asking for a few minutes of their time really helped.

I just forwarded this post along to a friend looking to switch gears and join a start up in a sales/business development role.

Best,
@RBeale

Re: NYC's Top VC Fred Wilson Is Rich . . . and Grumpy

Congrats on writing HORRIBLE article. Trying to be edgy is one thing, but your tone is completely misguided. Your article is a case study on the type of content journalists should NOT produce. After your explanation, it makes total sense to me how you are pulling your data and how you are showing the search results.

As for the name of the app, I do believe that the word "pitch" resonates with sales reps, PR, and traditional marketing professionals. However, as you are guiding professionals through the new world of inbound marketing, I think it makes sense to have a more "consultative" approach, rather than a traditional (read the word "pitch") approach. I am a sales rep, seo nerd and inbound marketer and am very familiar with traditional methods of marketing and selling (pitching). Over the years of selling products and services, I have learned that educating/consulting/advising prospects yields MUCH better results than "pitching." That is why I offered my $.02 on why I think the name is a little counter-intuitive to inbound marketing.

All in all, WhereToPitch is a helpful tool and I think will yield high quality leads for your sales team and eventually customers for Cision. Best of Luck to you and your team moving forward.

Regards,
Ryan

Re: Free Agent Stock Watch: Victor Martinez

it will be interesting to see what kind of contract VMART ends up with. All inbound links going to "ugly urls" will be lost, if this change is not done properly. The good news is that the WordPress Thesis Theme allows for 301 Redirects on each page, so before you make your permalink changes, you can easily redirect visitors to the "ugly url" pages to the new pages.

Re: Social Media Activity and Critics Down Says Forrester Research

Hi Antonio, Thanks for commenting. The reason why the percentages do not add up to 100% is because each rung of the ladder may or may not overlap. For example, someone that is a "joiner" may also be a conversationalist and a creator. Check out an explanation of Forrester's original Social Technographics Ladder from 2007 - http://forrester.typepad.co...

Re: Why Silvertech Should Hire Me

Silvertech should hire you, Matt! You very well may be correct. However, I am guessing PPC experts around the world are testing new ways to improve QS (buy purchasing shortened or half keyword phrases like in my example "hub" of "hubspot"). As these PPC experts test new ways to improve QS, less sophisticated PPC Advertisers that don't test new ways to improve QS may end up paying higher CPCs as a result of lower QS and more ad impressions.

Re: What the New Digg Means For Your Business

Excellent Post, Neal. We are starting the relationship wrong by calling human beings “leads.”" Why would you call it "customer nurturing" if the prospects you are nurturing are not yet your "customers." I know you are trying to make it more personal by replacing "lead" nurturing with "customer" nurturing, but it seems out of context. Perhaps, you can call it "prospect nurturing?" Bottom line, these people that you continue to connect with to move them through your sales funnel are not yet "customers." If they were "customers" this would be a different conversation called "customer retention."

Re: Twitter’s “Who to Follow” – Bad English, Great Functionality

While I enjoy the "who to follow" functionality, I think we need the ability to "hide" the feature from our main view.
