Yum!

I cannot eat a lot of fast food anymore--that sudden hit of grease is just bad for my stomach. That being said, I can carb-load like anybody's business. I love cake, bread, pasta, and it is all at home in my pantry. Danger! I also get pretty severe cravings for potato chips (ketchup flavour, especially) and if a bag is open I can't stay away. I just can't have them in the house.

The only place I will eat fast food is Wendy's. Once upon a time I actually worked there, so I know what goes on behind the counter and so I know things are mostly ok there. I also like the toys in the kid's meals better there. My kids actually PLAY with them and I don't end up throwing them out after a day or two of tripping over them.

Re: I Hated Breastfeeding. Deal with It.

I am another disgruntled breastfeeder. My oldest couldn't do it due to his developmental delays, but it took us two weeks of him chewing me to shreds while losing weight while we figured that out. My daughter got nipple confused at the same time I got terrible thrush and blocked ducts. Owwwwwie to the power of a lot. The third time I was blessed with thrush and biting so hard blood was drawn. Again with the owie. Even when it was going well, I just didn't like the constant tugging, you know? Each time the Milk Fairy came I also ran fevers with my painful engorgement. So yeah, I tried. I really did. But there were no Norman Rockwell moments over here. I do give huge props to those that do tough it out and will be training to be a doula this summer. You can bet your bippy that when I start to take clients I will be their biggest cheerleader when it comes to nursing, but if it doesn't work out, they will be getting no guilt trips from me.

Re: She said she needed it because her lips were dry…

Awww. My daughter once covered her head with a tub of vaseline. She looked like Jimmy Neutron. Even after Google told me to use cornstarch to get it out, (which I finally looked up after trying everything in my house and emptying the hot water tank trying to wash it out) it was still almost a week before her hair looked normal again.

Re: Wednesday Check In: The Power of One!

I am down 1.2 lbs, and up 6.31 miles on my treadmill. I was really bummed I couldn't participate in the 5K yesterday. I had a good sleep last night and didn't cough so I got on my treadmill this morning and did 5.6K with the help of Weird Al and my salbutamol inhaler to show my support for the Sisters who did run yesterday.

Y'all rock!!!

Re: A Healthy Popcorn-y Snack

I think this will be our after school snack today!

Re: Watching from The Sidelines. Don't beat yourself up too much, please. I was another cranky, hungry pregnant woman who couldn't work out because of sciatica and symphasis pubis dysfunction (the cartilage that holds my pelvis together let go too early and made me extra waddly and hurty and unstable) I was also fortunate enough to start showing the second I took the pregnancy test. Big Macs cured my morning sickness better than the prescription drugs did. I gained 40 lbs with each of my babies.
I am enclosing a picture of me providing shade for my daughter to help make you feel better: http://www.flickr.com/photo...
Eating lots of cucumber and watermelon can help you shed that extra water--they are natural, safe diuretics. Of course, they are not as tasty as ice cream! It is so easy to forget how GOOD you feel after a workout. Even if all I have time for is a 30 minute sprint on my treadmill, the rest of my day goes so much better and I am a much better, calmer person.

Today I sucked it up and posted pictures of myself--my REAL, not carefully posed, dressed-to-hide self on my blog to remind me of what I am doing here.

http://knitwitcooks.blogspo...

Re: Power of One Challenge::The Beginning!

My scale is a generic-brand digital I bought at the hardware store.
