Sleep deprivation can lead to the type of paranoid psychosis evident in your article. I'm not trying to be rude or critical, really. But a lot of what you've written here echoes those guys in the basement with their tin-foil hats tuning in to Alex Jones. Hillary Clinton has been a public servant under very public scrutiny for decades, not one shred of hard evidence points to any wrong-doing. Trump on the other hand is so private he won't even publicize his tax returns, probably because all the crookedness of his 500+ businesses might be revealed for all to see, no taxes paid in nearly 20 years, and he's so "rich". Just who is being duped here? Certainly not Clinton supporters? WWIII with Russia? More likely with Trump, he knee-jerks his aggressive response to any perceived threat to his own narcissistic ego, he has NO experience with diplomacy, a requirement for office as President. Clinton was a First Lady, then Senator from NY, then Secretary of State, while Trump was building gambling casinos, fraudulent universities and other useless crap. You really need to get a good night's sleep and start over with your article.

Re: Bitcoin Threat: Scientists Say Quantum Computers Will Make Bitcoin Extinct

The headline is unnecessarily alarming and certainly misleading. Bitcoin will not become extinct because of quantum computing. It will be possible to swap out the cryptographic algorithms now being used in order to prevent that from happening.

Re: Bitcoin Predictions

I'm curious about why the 24 hour chart always shows a precipitous drop on the right-hand side and the 5 day chart always shows a dramatic rise on the right-hand side. It's been like that for several weeks now, consistently, but the actual price has been fairly flat all that time. I only wish that the 5 day chart had been accurate, I'm really very tired of all this bearishness... :-(

Re: Bitcoin users to lose 36%

The title of the article is TERRIBLY MISLEADING. After all, it is only Bitfinex users who are affected. However the rest of us ARE affected by this type of sensationalist reporting. Peter Thiel has shown himself to be a nasty and vindictive piece of work, the way he took down Gawker for outing him as gay. I do not like Peter Thiel at all, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

Re: How will Craig Wright’s attempts at patenting Bitcoin technology impact your life?

Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto nor is he the inventor of Bitcoin. Just the sort of French fool who earlier would have collaborated with Hitler. The FN is truly dangerous, and not only for the French, but for the rest of Europe and the world. In any case, nothing the French government (or any government) can do will stop Bitcoin. Bitcoin is outperforming and will continue to outperform any so-called "blockchain" solutions that banks may attempt. If these attempts centralize control or fail to incorporate the mining rewards of Bitcoin (or other legitimate cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum) they are simply doomed to failure from the outset. Everyone with a functioning brain is justifiably wary of banks anyway, if not outright disgusted with them. And American Express is a horrible, dinosaur of a company, a complete rip-off, I seriously doubt that it will be successful in the future. I closed my American Express account many years ago, and it is clear that the company has only gone downhill since then.

Re: Spread Bitcoin Even If It Fails

For now, bitcoin is indeed just fine and I am not promoting any political agenda, screwball or otherwise. However some governments discourage Bitcoin (Russia, for instance) and these are not noted for being particularly free or democratic countries, so the people living in them are in fact much more "controlled" than in the USA or EU, for instance. Some corporations are also working to either outright discourage the use of Bitcoin or to somehow control its use, this is still evolving. Apple first banned Bitcoin-related apps but has since relented somewhat. For about a year Microsoft accepted Bitcoin for payment in some environments but has recently stopped. The cumulative effect of these influences will to a large extent determine the overall viability of Bitcoin since many people will not put up any resistance to what these governments or corporations "decide" for them. Bitcoin represents a type of freedom that runs counter to these powerful interests.

Re: Spread Bitcoin Even If It Fails

Blocksize is actually a nonissue. My view of the situation is anything but narrow, as a software developer, miner, and investor in Bitcoin I have been deeply involved for years. And while I have put forth some easily verifiable facts, you have offered absolutely no reason for me to change my opinion of Mike Hearn. In fact the more I hear about the guy, the less I value any so-called "contribution" that he might have made to Bitcoin. Overall, it is indeed negative, but the incredibly biased mainstream financial press latched onto his "whiny ragequit" with unwarranted smug satisfaction and compounded the damage he caused by spreading ridiculous headlines about how Bitcoin has failed and other complete nonsense.
