It is the CM from the first landing on the moon. A navy frogman slammed his head on the hatch during recovery. After training for months! He was so afraid of making a mistake, and here he was, almost incapacitated! He performed magnificently, as did everyone involved in the Apollo Program. One thing truly different about Columbia? The Lunar Module Pilot, Edwin Aldrin, occupied the center couch during ascent, with Michael Collins on the right side. On any other Apollo mission, the Command Module Pilot would be in the center. Aldrin actually designed the lunar rendezvous computer program, he was even more versed in it than Collins. And Collins' training was delayed by back surgery. So the seat became Aldrin's!
