You seem to assume that every language have the same word order as English. They don't. And falling back to their native language's syntax and just word for word translate to English is a common way for non native speakers to cope, especially if they're talking about stuff they're not usually talking about.

What might sound like,or at least read like a command in English might not at all be meant that way, nor be phrased wrong in their native tongue.

So no, your experience with "foreign languages" and non-English speakers are extremely convoluted and limited, and as a sidenote, Spanish and English have very similar syntax and grammar,hence even struggling people will manage to get the syntax mostly right.

Clothes definitely belongs on some animals, since not all animals, in this particular instance, dogs, are created equal. If you have a sled dog, like an Alaska Malamute, they definitely don't need clothes in winter. If you have a tiny Chihuahua, it very well might, because it's fur and general body temperature isn't made for harsh winter climate.

Dedicated lifeguards isn't really a think neither in Norway or Sweden, I think. I've never seen one. Staff, yes,rescue buoys, but no dedicated lifeguards. So while I'm sure there are some somewhere, it's not common. People are expected to either be able to swim, or not be morons. Take that as you may.

How the f is 2003 "the early days of the Internet"? Facebook launched in 2004 (public 2006). 2003 was like 10 years into common Internet service. To be fair, I didn't have my own Internet until 1997, but used it plenty before that. And seriously, I do not believe this dude knew that the Matrix was.

Yes. Common test when working the door. Also, ask them to recite it backwards (ie, year, month, day). Or just list their social security (here, or us) since it contains the birthday, and they'll often misspeak or otherwise botch that.

This may even work if everything but the year is the same, since it's very easy to go with what you're used to, instead of the switched date.

If someone, say someone not knowing your system or menu, orders something that adds up to a combo, then yes, it should be entered as a combo. That is good customer service. And unless you get a nutcase customer, most customers will be happy with that.

A format does not destroy files. Period. To destroy any hope of recovering, you need to overwrite every sector of the drive. It takes a while, but is easily doable with free tools.

It's a STATEMENT. Yes, JKR is richer than God. That's... Well, not fine, but it is what it is. Drawing attention to her VERY problematic viewpoints might make people think twice before making her even richer, and also prevent her from getting an even bigger platform.

It's a small step, but I'm guessing that's what most of the casualties after #metoo thought as well. That didn't turn out so well for quite a few of them.

JKR is a word for a female dog, no way around that, and her support for sex offenders, right wing people and organisations, support for people who do hate speech daily, etc. isn't a good thing. 🤷

Guards/security, any type of them, aren't allowed to restrain people at all (a so called citizen's arrest), regardless of training, unless the crime being committed has a minium possible jail sentence (which most light vandalism and store theft doesn't). Hence...

I must admit I don't really get the "everyone gets towed". At least if the reasoning is "residential area".

If you just lock the gate, and leave it locked until the next day, the cars are semi safe, and there is no stress or noise getting cars towed. Imagine 15 ppl leaving their cars beyond 8pm. Getting 15 cars towed will take forever, be noisy, and will last well beyond the 8 pm curfew.

Most people, also neurodivergent ones, learn what is acceptable and not quite quickly if told.

Reminds me... Worked at a bar.

Coworker dropped a champagne bottle, it landed right side up, nothing happened (we thought) and we decided to just put it aside to let it settle, perhaps put it in storage after the shift for a employee party or similar.

We put it on the back counter (behind the bar) and forgot about it for a while. Fast forward about half an hour, 40 minutes, and there's a loud *bang* followed by the unmistakable sound of glass shattering and we go "wtf?". Both of us was collecting glasses and serving, so we rush back to the bar. The cork has flown off, and managed to hit a tray of beer glasses that was kinda precariously positioned, which, ofc, has toppled, and yeah... Glass everywhere behind the bar. Also a lot of champagne all over, and behind the counter.

Fun cleanup. Not.

Different places, different rules. Here, you NEED to have a customer facing display. If it's off, or broken, the POS is not legal to use. Period. (Okay, not entirely true - if you can print a transaction list BEFORE payment is made, so the customer can see that, and say "ok", then you can - but you need to inform and get consent for this way of doing it before you start).

That it is. Does it look like a desktop computer, or a laptop? No. For one, it has a cash drawer. It has all the connected devices, at least a card reader, at minimum. The most important bit, however, is that a cash register will have a customer facing display of some sort, displaying the prices of each scanned item, and the end total. So mistaking a regular computer for a cash register is just plain dumb.
