I don't know how many times over the years, even more so last year since the local shrimping industry tanked because of gas prices, I have heard Shrimp Festival committee members anounce over the public address system, "support the local shrimping industry, buy local shrimp". The sad part is, most of the vendors don't, they buy foriegn frozen shrimp from the Cysco truck. The purpose of the Shrimp Festival is to celebrate the local shrimping industry and thus the vendors who wish to participate in the event should be mandated to sell only locally purchase Shrimp. It is extremely disappointing to me that the Shrimp Festival Committe does not practice what they preach. As the article says, "Look for food booths that have a fresh local shrimp sign", and only buy from them.

I don't put a sticker on my bike unless I'm getting some money from them. I guess I could make an exception for Search Amelia though.
