while I like Beltran, I don't see those who say "keep him if we can only get a B level prospect".
Mets will get no compensation, and as much as I'd like to believe, the chances that they make the playoffs are less than 10%. B level prospects still have value.
I'm hoping for A of course, but Mets need to look long term.

I was thinking same thing; he and a few others were so down on Murphy- maybe as a backlash to those who thought he was a sure thing.
He still reminds me of Dave Magadan - good average, doubles type hitter, not so good defense, although he is improving in that aspect. He is definitely a good player to keep, although I'm not 100% convinced that he is a starter for a pennant winning team.

I have no idea how this will turn out but Nimmo sounds like a young David Wright- good attitude, well spoken. I only hope he develops like Wright did.

I'm sick of hearing NOW about what the Mets "will do".
It's a long time until the all star break, let alone the trading deadline or the end of the season. I don't believe anything is written in stone yet.

Call me an optimistic met fan (c)Ceetar, but I don't see the 75 win predictions. I like this team more than last years. I like the way Alderson thinks and so far Terry has the right attitude. Yeah it will probably be a .500 club, but a fun to watch club. I'll wait to see if all of the financial doom & gloom comes to fruition. In the meantime, LGM

you don't take a young player like Duda and make him a 4th outfielder. He needs regular ABs. If he isn't filling in for Beltran you send him to AAA and let him play every day.

I think Emaus will be fine as 2b. I expect him to be adequate until Reese Havens or someone else is ready.

I'm fine with the way Sandy is going about things. What is the advantage of dropping Ollie or Castillo now? To satisfy some fans bloodlust? That's how Omar got in Trouble.

Seems dodgers may have done it to clear a 40 man roster spot. Since we don't have a top 2nd base prospect, we might as well throw a bunch out there and see who wins the job.

I've been saying this for quite a while. Murphy was a 3bman; he is having issues in OF- 1st base should be way more natural. I disagreed, but understood, when it was 1 or 2 games to fill in at 1b- you don't want murphy bouncing around - but now that Delgado is gone for many weeks, let Murphy play there every day.

Playing Murphy in LF and Reed at 1B makes NO SENSE.

edit: Manuel just said to Francessa he is starting at 1b today
