As you say David, "They're the read deal", and they deserve a great exit like this. Good luck integrating with YPG guys. And have fun tonight! ;)

Re: GigPark.com acquired by CanPages

Thanks so much for the lovely post Jevon (*wipes tear from eye*). GigPark would never have got to this point without the help and support of the incredible Canadian tech community. And StartupNorth - the blog + the great events you and the team organize - is at the heart of that community.

Noah and I first decided to start GigPark after attending the Mesh conference, we recruited Paul Dowman and all of the team through StartupNorth and Ruby pub nights and we launched our beta at a DemoCamp event. GigPark was truly born out of the grassroots Toronto tech community. We feel like we owe a lot to that community and are so thankful for all of the ideas, advice and support we've received over the last couple of years.

We're incredibly happy about this deal and our future at Canpages. We're also really excited about continuing to be a big part of the startup ecosystem in Toronto and hopefully helping the next batch of founders build, grow and run/sell their companies.

Thanks to you, Jonas, David and all of the StartupNorth team. And a huge thank you to the incredible Toronto/Canadian tech community. Noah, Paul and I plan to buy everyone a drink to celebrate at a suitable event soon (the next DemoCamp?).

Cheers!

Re: J2Play Acquired by Electronic Arts

Great news. I absolutely love seeing Canadian companies (especially ones backed by Canadian investors) get an exit. Congrats to everyone involved!

Re: Because Startups Need Each Other

@Sandy Looking forward to our coffee next wednesday ;)

Re: Because Startups Need Each Other

"But more than anything else, startup entrepreneurs need each other." - I couldn't agree more!

At least a dozen times advice, ideas and know-how from other founders in Ontario has made a major difference to GigPark, and me personally. This is a really good reminder for me to get out there and talk to people. Thanks David.

Re: Toronto’s GigPark launches in open beta

I agree Mark.
We're seeing some incredible communities already on GigPark. Some of the most interesting are based around important life events... having a baby, buying a house, starting a business. These seem to be the times that groups of friends come together and help each other most. And one of the ways they are helping each other is by sharing recommendations about their service people.

We've heard stories from new mothers who have hired every single service they need via recommendations from their friends on GigPark. Makes the job very satisfying :).

Thanks for the fantastic write-up Mathew.

Pema
Co-founder, GigPark
