It doesn't matter if they are good leaders or not. White guys are leaders by default. Women and non-white persons are often not given opportunities to lead or co-lead the main group. Carol gets booted out of the group for making a decision to kill certain people to prevent sickness and further death. Herschel, Rick, Darryl, and to a small extent Merle, decide whether or not to hand Michonne over to the Govenor. Tyrese, who was a co-leader in the comics, almost always defers to other white characters and mostly helped take care of Rick's children much like Beth, Michonne and Carol. Glenn is apparently never an option for a leadership position. He isn't being treated like walker bait anymore but his role has been considerably reduced. Rick, even though he is imperfect and thought it was okay to just take a break as farmer Rick, always has the opportunity to return to his post as leader.

I also found episode 3 to be especially disturbing. As a black woman viewer I'm cautious of Eddie's connection to hip hop culture, especially as it relates to women and their accessory/object roles in men's fantasies and pursuit of money and relevance. I don't think this is something that can be excused by Eddie's age and youth. There are grown men who prescribe to the same views and act exactly the same as Eddie. That this kind of behavior and mentality is prevalent among young boys is very troubling. It reminds me of when I confided in a doctor regarding my experience with sexual assault and she told me that her son had learned the rhyme "Old enough to count, old enough to mount." So I'm sure there are other people who experienced some level of unease regarding the depiction of Eddie and Honey in this episode. If anything I found it rather telling that Eddie's treatment of Honey is nearly identical to the way she is treated by everyone else in town, including her own step daughter. I understand where Eddie is coming from. He sees a hetero-normative white masculinity that he feels he must embody in order to succeed in his academic environment and largely in white American society. And in order to perform his masculinity he must objectify feminine persons and use them for whatever reason. So you have Honey, recognizing his need to fit in and accepting the burden of being his "bitch" temporarily. It does come off as Eddie being rewarded and his concept of success being validated. He literally assaults Honey while she consents to offering him a hug. And this comes right after he rains coupons on her, treating her like a sex worker. And maybe Honey is a sex worker or that is something she has done in the past. The way she was treated has less to do with the profession itself and more so the assumption of (sexual) availability that is projected onto women and girls at the convenience of men and boys. I felt really bad for Honey having to deal with so many micro-aggressions in one episode.

Some of these i can relate to. Others not so much. But that's that beauty of being a woman: you get to be an individual. It matters what makes you feel sexy. But for me personally hair is not really a deterrent for a hook-up. Never had a guy say no b/c I didn't shave my legs or something like that. It really isn't a big deal if he's interested.

It doesn't take that long. When I'm in the zone all I need is 5 - 15 minutes. Some people may require more time but if you actually cared about your partner's needs you would find a way to make it work. I mean it's easy for you as a guy to say this. You can have an orgasm without really trying. For some women it's more elusive especially since so many of us have had piss poor sex education. Sex is something men get to enjoy. Women get shamed for enjoying sex most of the time.

I know the feeling. I have an abstract idea of what could happen depending on if I can finish school or not. But ultimately I'm not going to settle down or have kids just b/c I'm getting older. People can scare you all they like but they don't know your heart. They can't scare you by saying you have a biological clock or some shit. If it happens it happens. But I can always have kids even if they aren't biological and that doesn't scare me one bit. So once I've figured out the school thing I know I will work and earn money for a while. If I make enough for a vacation or little adventure I will travel and treat myself. There are so many places and so many people I want to see, meet, fuck, you name it. Thanks for the post. So many of us out here just dying under college debt and feeling corned by other people's expectations for lives they contribute very little to.

But how can it be considered pragmatic if it doesn't guarantee you any safety? The thing is Trayvon could not do anything to mitigate the attention he would draw toward himself by virtue of being a black boy. You can't hide being black. You just can't. The least seemingly harmful thing that could happen is some white person will congratulate for not being like those "other" black people. But that's it. The seeming favorable treatment is only offered when the person feels like it. But otherwise you are not owed anything by performing based on someone else's expectations and that will never protect you.

You have to be careful about how much fiber you consume in a small amount of time. I don't really see any guidelines for acceptable amount to increase per week. I would say reach your goal in about a month or two and divide the amount of increased fiber by the amount of weeks. And also along with water take in more probiotics to help with digestion.

I agree with Bob. A lot of things matter such as your weight, amount of physical activity per day and how much fiber you consume per day. Based on my weight alone I could go through about three gallons of water in three to five days.

You seem to love victim blaming people, black women in particular. If you had been paying attention you would have realized how uncomfortable this girl was representing both herself and her DEAD friend in front of not only his murderer but his parents as well. But no, let's just bully this girl cause she can't speak English good. Ignore her other languages b/c they are all less valuable than the almighty English. English is a Germanic language, it's incompatible with the Romance languages she's more capable in. Had you considered that living as a Haitian woman in Florida is fucking hell? Maybe that had an impact on her learning? You know, things like racism, sexism, misogyny, colorism, fat-antagonism and ableism. Do you even know why she and Trayvon were friends in the first place? Perhaps the reason is lost on you but he was one of the few guys who never tore her down for being what she was. He liked her and did not bother her about her flaws.

I always feel like when you're voicing a valid but overwhelmingly unpopular opinion it's damned if you do watch the media and damned if you just skim the top and determine that it offends you personally. Like you I've watched over 9 plays, all TP's movies including Alex Cross and I've come away with the same conclusions as yourself. He cannot depict black women as actual human beings. And he constantly punishes them for breaking the mold, doing things wrong, etc.

This seems very reminiscent of the case in California a few years back. A girl was gang raped during a school dance, people watched. I think there's a psychological term for it, but it's something along the lines of a bystander effect. But as far as why this hasn't received much attention, gonna take a stab at the victim not being white. I'm pretty sure if the victim was white this would be national news.

Also wasn't there another gang rape in Texas that involved an 11 year old girl, but most of the people in her town blamed her for the incident and acted like she was ruining the lives of her rapists? I almost thought this was the exact same incident, but those two cases are years apart and in different locations.

This is unrelated but perhaps it's something you would like to comment on. Recently the grave of Michael Clarke Duncan was vandalized with racist writing and some crude drawing of a black man on his grave.

Other than that I'm in agreement with what you've stated. These people would have you believe that GZ with all his privilege and donated "legal" funds is the victim but they're victimizing TM by saying he was criminal b/c he did things that some kids and young adults do.

I know. But it wasn't as bad as Ygritte/Jon Snow. Dude is like wearing a fucking bear skin and Ygritte is completely nude and then it just fades to after flow. That last time we saw a man's dick on this show it was Theon Greyjoy fucking a sex worker. And Theon Greyjoy is not attractive in the least bit. Actually a lot of the guys on this show are pretty boring to look at and don't have interesting personalities. But the nudity expectations are definitely skewed.

B/c rape is very easy to get away with. According to the description of the video he and his friends took turns with the 17 year who was not entirely conscious. Dumped her body in a bathroom. And then later tried to coerce her into giving him oral sex. That description still stands regardless of whether or not he was charged with rape. This guy has a PR team for christ's sake. What is he trying to hide?

Most likely they'll just say they mourned her or they'll have some reason not to feel sad or bad or the least bit guilty (e.g. Jeremy can still see her). My guess is next season they will open up with a graduation party or some shit with these fools happy as all get out. I'm also very burned about the fact that Katherine was turned into a human. I'm pretty sure as a human she would still have more cunning in her pinky finger than Elena will ever have in her entire brain.

But the way I see it they intend for Jeremy to be the only one who can see her. They just want to maintain the status quo when it comes to Bonnie. JP just wants to remind the fandom never to ask for anything with regards to Bonnie. She gave her a story arc and look what the end result is. One story arc, Bonnie saved the day all by herself, nobody helped her, nobody knew what she was doing and now she's dead.

They even undermined her efforts b/c Silas isn't officially gone.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to call it quits as well. I didn't think this finale could underwhelm me so much. But honestly, how do they expect to justify Bonnie being able to perform magic while she's dead? She has literally become the magical negro of the show b/c all she exists to do is perform magic tricks for people. She had absolutely nothing to live for. They couldn't even let her father know that she was dead. It was more important for her "friends" to know but not her own father who briefly had a scene during the graduation ceremony.

In the same episode they can save Damon's life but no one even knows that Bonnie is dead. And now only Jeremy can see her. He can decide whether to see her or not see her whenever he wants. That really diminishes her role as a character b/c now only one person can see her, no one else. Maybe I'm getting old but I really don't have the energy for this bullshit anymore.

Like I get it JP!! Having a boyfriend is way more important than saving the motherfucking world.

Yeah. We already have women who have suffered jail time for miscarriages in some states. A while back I heard of a Chinese woman who attempted suicide and it also led to a miscarriage and she was sent to jail for that. I'm very much against calling a fetus a person. If it's a viable life then that's something but various three week old cells do not make a person.

Also considering how long these women have been kept I don't think you're going to get proof of time. It just counts as a brutality toward the women.

Oh and another that annoyed me about this episode. The fact that Elena said she couldn't apologize to Caroline b/c then she would feel bad or some shit. Saying that being apologetic is a negative emotion which would unleash the grief and suffering. Talk about a weak ass excuse not to apologize to your best friend for trying to kill her and for saying shit to her face. But I knew the writers would come up with yet another excuse for why Elena could not be held accountable for the things she'd done. Bonnie even rescinded Elena's apology saying she had nothing to feel sorry about. Like wtf.

I think overwhelmingly there is a trend of letting JP speak through Elena, esp when she has these apathetic, rage, sire bond spells, and she says a lot things that go unchallenged. Such as her dismissing of Caroline's rape despite the fact that in S1 she actually defended Caroline. Or her at first blaming the Jeremy death on Bonnie for her inability to bring him back and then using that plus the presence of Silas as justification to kill her. And then just blaming Jeremy's death on Katherine again citing that as justification to kill her but leaving Silas completely out of the equation. Personally I've never really seen Caroline as a bad character. I guess JP relies on the -isms inherent in certain people and just uses certain storytelling and narratives to get people to rant about their hatred of certain characters who probably didn't do anything wrong at the time. I've only ever gotten on Carline's case for her disproportionately going after POCs during her first night as a vampire and more recently attributing success to people who did nothing to get rid of Silas. A lot of it comes down to horrid writing. So I couldn't really blame her for Klaus/Caroline. It just doesn't make any sense. You can say that they've completely dis-empowered Caroline but they've done that to pretty much all female characters on this show. Bonnie is constantly being manipulated and never is in control of what she's doing. She is constantly told to do things even when they go against her nature as a witch. Elena has absolutely no agency. She is prone to being controlled by sire bonds, emotions, lack of emotions, etc. Anything to prevent her from being held accountable for her actions. She is an annoyingly weak character. Rebekah is supposed to be this Original vampire but she acts like a teenager whose only interests are proms, high school and babies. She seemingly spent most of her existence in a coffin and we're supposed to believe that she's so unappealing that the only man who would want her is Matt. Thankfully they didn't justify Caroline's torture by her gay father. It shouldn't have happened in the first place esp given the allusions to reversion therapy suffered by gay people in real life. But they legit tortured Elena as well and justified it by saying they weren't "really" going to hurt her. Even though they tied her to a chair and let her burn by daylight.

I'm more upset that the only reason they are even considering the death penalty is b/c of the hand these guys played in the multiple miscarriages these women had during their abduction, rape and torturing. I'm not pro-death penalty either. Life in prison is good enough.
