Yupper… Article 16 Section 4 states the 23-man roster limit is in place from the conclusion of the preseason until 12:01 am on the date of the NHL’s Trade Deadline.
Post-deadline teams are allowed to have an unlimited active roster at the NHL level, provided players are signed to one of their 50 contract slots

Funny story: my wife got it for me for Christmas a few yrs ago. Thought I lost it at one point, so got another made to prevent her from Unleasing the Fury. Found the original one 2 months later. Had to fess up at that point, but the fury was minimal. The head-shaking was excessive, though.

I'd think it has to do with the 9 game rookie rule? Not wanting to use up all 9 of them this season and burn a contract year now versus carrying over some of those games til next year.
Also, sending Iorio et al to the A and give Hershey players the experience of a potential playoff run themselves?

Obviously McDavid is winning the Hart Trophy as the best player in the league (if EDM makes the loffs, of course. If not, then all bets are off?) but the importance of Ovechkin to his team is right in line with the "player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team" quantifier that the Hart was established upon. Where would they be without him? Over the past 10 days we've seen exactly where that would be.

This D needs to be better. And by that, I mean Carlson needs to be traded. ARZ Chychrun is a dramatic upgrade and should be the target. Improves D and improves PP, both of which would directly and indirectly improve the current goaltending. I really think Samsonov's struggles are a symptom, not a cause.

I suggest all the problems the team is enduring stem from their 🚮 Power Play. If only one of those PP last night generates a goal, that game plays out entirely different. But giving up more chances on the PP than it generates? Yeah, that's unacceptable. Or should be unacceptable, at least. Apparently this is not the case in DC however.
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result" may be the most overused cliché in forever, but its use is accurate here. In fact, I'd just replace 'insanity' with 'stupidity'.
