The reason the Post Office seems to be a fiscal problem is that it is required to give congress Six billion dollars a year and it has to purchase whatever it needs at exorbitant prices from our own price gouging government. We need to completely privatize the Postal Service.

Re: Tea party: Top 10 federal government cuts

I agree with those cuts. But my number one priority would be to cut over a billion dollars a year spent on a disease that is 100 percent preventable. No, not polio, measles, chickenpox, or any of the other preventable diseases like those. I am talking about AIDS spending which has gotten totally out of control. Yet it seems like anything that even appears to be anti-homosexual is the new third rail.

DO NOT CUT A SINGLE PENNY OF MY MEDICARE OR SOCIAL SECURITY UNTIL YOU HAVE TOTALLY ELIMINATED EVERY PENNY SPENT ON AIDS RELATED ISSUES!!!

Rev. That way if I wanted to see all my friends on my High school list, I could see all the high school friends on all the networks. Alternatively, if I am only needing those friends on a particular network, I can still do that.

I would also like the lists to be expandable/collapsible

On another note, I think the networks need to become proactive in preventing social mental fatigue as well, something I am suffering from. Some folks like to try out the latest and greatest features every time they come out.

On Facebook there are at least two of everything and there are at least four "Hug" type programs. I have so many different requests from so many different people that I simply cannot keep up.

Then too, is the invasion of privacy. This is because you don't want to hurt your friends feelings by rejecting them so you click to Accept the "Hug" for example, only to find out that you have to be willing to give the App Developer all kinds of personal information in order to complete the connection. God only knows what all they do with that information.

In spite of so called Privacy and TOS statements, my spam has shot up exponentially when I starting using MySpace, then Twitter, then again with Facebook and SuperPoke Pets. Somebody is getting a hold of the email addresses some how.

Okay, that was a bit off topic but still needs to be considered.

Re: Bing Now Bigger Than Digg, Twitter and CNN

Yesterday I posted about the fight between software giant Microsoft and Google. That post was about Google taking on Microsoft in the Operating System war. Google is launching its own operating system called Chrome OS and plans to slice off a big chunk of the Microsoft OS market. Microsoft is launching its new OS called Windows 2007.

Today, the shoe is on the other foot as Microsoft blasts away at the Search Engine market with their Bing search engine. While the OS battle is more of a long term battle, Chrome OS isn't slated to come out until 2010 while Microsoft's new OS 2007, is launching this year.

These two fights will keep pundits talking for years to come but one thing is certain, it will not be boring. Both companies have plenty of capital to work with and there are a lot of undertones. For example, the overwhelming majority of Microsoft's business is from its operating system, while Google has multiple income streams and sits on a large pile of cash.

If Google can slice off part of Microsoft's OS market with their Chrome OS, they could seriously damage Microsoft's ability to earn money. Microsoft didn't get where they are by being a slouch in the R & D arena. That is where Bing comes in. Bing beat Google to the punch by over a year.

It is already seeing a great deal of enthusiasm in its new Search Engine which has grown exponentially as noted in the Mashable article July 8th, 2009 | by Ben Parr "Bing Now Bigger Than Digg, Twitter and CNN"

This one is destined to be one of those epic decades long struggles between David and Goliath but David is now almost grown while Goliath has gained new weapons for his arsenal. I foresee either a draw or God forbid, a takeover or merger by these two companies.

Re: Are You Still Listening?

I think all the posts thus far have hit on the same concept - a multi-faceted approach to categorize our contacts.

One approach would be to simply emulate webmail. You caould use this as a base but build on it with search options. For example, if I have Christian friends, secular friends, business friends, family, etc.

I would like to be able to address them personally, as a subgroup (Christians), as an entire group, or by a particular temporary sunset of each of the groups perhaps using something like your Stars. If you had a way to star people within each group who meet a particular interest, and address them as a subgroup for a particular interest that transcends each group. For example, people in each group which meet a particular interest that crosses group lines such as Republicans who are a part of different groups such as Christian friends, secular friends, business friends, family.

Lofty concept I guess but I thought I would add it to the heap. :-)

Pastor Rick
Crosswayisp.net
