I seem to remember something similar years ago, where they showed 'experts' paintings made by (I think) elephants, and they were all complimenting the bold strokes etc.

But I find this stuff hilarious. Much like the very discerning "audiophiles" a while back, who couldn't tell the difference in quality between music piped through high-end expensive cables versus a banana.

I may use Windows, but that's basically because it's my only viable option. I actively avoid anything else Microsoft.

I've only ever used Edge to download other browsers. I use Google Docs/Sheets etc. instead of Word/Excel. I've never used Bing. And on my phone, Copilot is the only AI I don't have installed.

I'm even still on Win10 on 2 PCs, because I don't want their forced AI integrations (I'm not against AI, I just don't want it ever present on my computer), and because they seem to break something critical in 11 on an almost monthly basis.

We're, what, 5 years into the life of Win11 now? And they're still releasing 'mandatory' updates that randomly tank PCs on an almost monthly basis. And they wonder why people are slow to move over. Did they let all their remotely competent coders go?

I've got a laptop and a desktop gaming PC, both of which are still on Win10. Seems much less risky than "upgrading".

Green? Spock has never looked any shade of green to me. More of a pale, pasty white, if anything. But then I've only ever seen the show on UK TV sets.

I've also asked some friends, and they've also never noticed any green.

Dark Skies was great... so much promise.

Earth 2 I've seen twice, first when it originally aired in the UK, and again on a smaller channel - possibly Bravo or something like that - when it was repeated in the early 2010s, while I was laid up in bed with chicken pox for a couple of weeks.

I loved it. Still do. I actually sold my physical copy after I completed it, for almost the same amount that I paid for it - but I re-bought it digitally some time later in a sale because I wanted to play it again.

It's a shame it never got a sequel, because I got quite invested in the world it presented. I'm sure they would have managed to get quite a bit more into a sequel, much like Naughty Dog improved between Uncharted 1 & 2.

Not for me, then... no interest in PvP as they all generally devolve into the same mess. I'll stick with the likes of Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2, where I can have fun with my mates and not have to worry about the sad sacks who just like to spoil the game for everyone else.

Both my laptop and desktop will run Windows 11. My problem is that Windows 11 still doesn't seem ready, so I've no interest in switching.

It's been out for, what, 3 years now? And yet we still get stories quite regularly about bugs and glitches, and updates that fix one thing and break another. There have been at least 4 significant issues so far this month that I'm aware of.

It's a bit like the joke about potholes - your car has to be fit to drive on the road, but apparently the roads don't have to be fit to drive a car on. My PCs are good enough for Windows 11, but I don't currently consider Windows 11 to be good enough for my PCs. I'll switch when they get their act together.

Barely a week goes by without a story about something on Windows 11 breaking, not working as it should, or simply being extremely undesirable. Ads, Recall, can't set the date and time, printers and scanners not working, multiple issues with gaming, installation failures... and that's just a few of the issues I can recall off the top of my head that I've read in the last year or so.

I haven't switched to it on either my laptop or my gaming PC, and nor will I until I have absolutely no choice; even then, I may not bother. It's a clusterf*ck of an operating system, and a shame that MS will be allowed to charge people who wish to stay on 10 and not partake in its mediocrity.

The world desperately needs a viable competitor OS.

More like Microsoft has 12 months left to fix Windows 11 and convince a lot of people that it's worth it.

I don't give a damn about Copilot or AI in general. What I want is to know that it's going to work well enough to not give me any issues with my games and other software. And to be honest, I've read so many horror stories about problems people have had with it (including 4 stories in just the last few days) that I have no intention of switching until I have absolutely no choice. And even then, I'll be reluctant.

Sure, maybe I'll be one of the fortunate ones and have no issues, but I'm just not willing to risk it, despite both my main PC and laptop being capable of running it. There have been too many issues, and as the last few days have shown, there's no guarantee that new issues won't be introduced in future updates.

I don't know what's gone on with their developers as far as Win11 is concerned, but this clusterf*ck of an operating system is a joke at this point.

Have not played either game, nor bought any DLC, since February 2023. Bought everything and played regularly before that.

I'll start again when you address the increasingly imbecilic traffic AI, by at least having the decency to discuss it rather than constantly avoiding any mention of what is by far the single biggest issue in these games.

I thought there was going to be an issue when several of Sony's studios released games within the last month's before PS5 arrived, but I didn't think it would go on this long.

One possible option would be to compel companies to guarantee that all game features will remain available for a set number of years after release, similar to the way the EU has made phone manufacturers guarantee several years of Android updates.

Well, Lestrade, I don't know, because they never, ever address it. If I had to guess, I'd say they can't fix it because the game engine is too old and incapable.

But then, they did manage to update both the lighting and sound, which are other core aspects of the game engine... so it could just be that they don't have staff with the know-how to improve it.

All I know for certain is that it's a vital component of the gameplay that drastically needs improving, as it has aged abysmally, and seems to get worse every time they add new maps with more complex junctions - and their constant refusal to address it in any way gets more ridiculous with every update. They just need to say, "we can't do anything about it," or "we're aware and looking into it", or "it'll have to wait for the next version of the games." But nope... just silence.

Haven't played either game since the Valentine's event in 2023 because of the completely inadequate AI drivers. Nor have I bought any of the DLCs released in that time.

The traffic AI is the biggest issue in the game now, and you continue to remain silent, while faffing around tweaking things which don't really need improvement. Is it that you won't fix it, or you can't fix it?

I doubt it would, but I still wouldn't want it.

I'd rather have a separate streaming stick anyway... I'm sick of smart TVs getting rendered dumb when the manufacturer decides to stop updating, or removing features.

I'm even less of a snob. As long as it's smooth and consistent, I don't care if it's 30fps. I've been gaming on both PC and console for 40+ years, and it's never made the slightest difference to me.

I'd rather have a consistent 30fps than something that bounces unpredictably between 40 and 60

I'd even go as far as to say that for things like online FPS, frame rates should be capped so that nobody gets an advantage due to hardware rather than skill. 🤷🏻‍♂️
