I think the real question isnt if this sketchy is official, or even real. Its if these people showed this to reliable sources, and pretty much duped them into revealing that, yes, this is what Snoke looks like. If it is, it certainly gives the Plagueis rumors a lot more credence.

I'd also point out that it's probably not an accident Luke found himself over Tattooine. If rumors of Daisy Ridley's character's--ahem--lineage are to be believed, he's most likely going there to seek her out, or seek her help, which is also why she might be monitoring the skies if she knows he's coming.

Second I'm going to post these two comments taken from that link, which talks about the Redbull space jump stunt:

Basically, Luke's hand and lightsaber are made of indeterminate metals, and most likely wouldn't be moving fast enough as they fell to the planet to cause the atmosphere to burn them up, though they might be singed, certainly.

Now, on to what I feel is a more important point that's been overlooked: if Luke's hand, and his lightsaber, have been removed from him, this doesn't leave him in very good straits at the start of the movie. In fact it sounds like it's very likely the villains have taken him prisoner. This would explain why it's suddenly become so urgent to find him: the Jedi Hunters have finally caught up with him. We might even see scenes akin to those aboard the Death Star in ANH, when they rescue Princess Leia, furthering the echoing of ANH by Episode VII.

Honestly, and I hope I'm wrong about this, but I have a feeling these new films will be widely hated no matter how good they might be. Maybe it's just my prequel era cynicism showing, but I'm not sure actually liking new Star Wars is even possible for the masses at this point. As far as Star Wars goes, they never seem to be happy with anything (evidence being the ample hate piled on almost every rumor we've heard so far). I know I'm basically reiterating what you said, but I guess I'm saying I agree with you, except I'm not sure the group of haters is going to be so small.

Okay, clearly something going on with the parkour thing. And before people start hemming and hawing over parkour being in Star Wars (seriously, what don't you hem and haw about?), these skills could easily be transitioned into a Force skills chase scene or the like. It really does fit quite well.

You're absolutely right, your point about Daisy Ridley is, to me, irrefutable. Also, let's not forget that initially, they tried to hide the fact that the open casting call was even for Star Wars. I'm sure someone will come along and say that they did that on purpose, to try and give it credibility, but come on. The conspiracy theories that the whole thing was basically a sham, a stunt, sound ridiculous. There were even the reports that they went beyond the open call, to acting schools in California, to make sure they filled these rolls with the right people. It gives the overall impression, to me at least, that J J Abrams was deathly serious about this.

Yeah, these superficial rumors are starting to get annoying. Boyega is Lando's son just because he's black, Lupita Nyong'o is playing Asajj Ventress because she has short cropped hair and the character's bald. They're such stretches based on such thin evidence that when they're given any credence at all, it kind of boggles the mind.

If it is a hologram of Obi-Wan from his Revenge of the Sith days, doesn't that mean, given his more aged appearance from the Hasbro thing, that he must show up again besides that in some capacity?

If he really is the main character, and is as important as these reports suggest, it kinda throws into doubt the concerns about Harrison Ford's role being diminished because of his leg.

It sounds like a potentially cool plot. The only problem I can see is, if Luke is the end goal, is he not going to be in the majority of the movie?

I hope that if it does prove true, JJ Abrams and or Lawrence Kasdan at least stay on as cowriters to maintain some form of cohesion throughout the entire trilogy. Personally, I'm still hoping that Abrams decides to stay on to direct them all. Perhaps he just doesn't know what he wants to do at this point, and Disney is just planning for the eventuality that Abrams might want to step away.

Basically the supposed Hoth set isn't even white. People reporting it as such viewed it from the (unfinished polystyrene) outside, from an angle no camera would ever shoot it from.

Someone over at tfn brought up a good point: what if Max Von Sydow is playing the Inquisitor, and is the element connecting Rebels and Episode VII? Honestly, that makes more sense to me, he seems to be the perfect age for it. This would also explain why they refuse to say who is playing the Inquisitor, we'd know an Episode VII connection instantly. I think your story might be right, your sources just got mixed up about who's who. Also, very little has been made of Von Sydow's casting. He's kind of fallen through the cracks.

On the one hand, I see why people wouldn't like this. As pointed out below, at least as we know it now, this would make RotJ a bit pointless, except on a personal father/son level. On the other hand, if everything really did end 'happily ever after' with RotJ, then what's the point of Episodes VII through IX at all? It would just feel tacked on, a, 'also this happened!' sort of deal. It's a bit of a catch 22. The only things I really don't like about it at this point is that the name Skywalker doesn't seem to matter much beyond Luke himself. Is it the Skywalker Saga or not? And also the part about resurrecting the Sith, indicating that Palpatine might literally return. I'd much prefer a new Sith instead, and believe they should eschew from regurgitating too many Original Trilogy elements.

I didn't even think of the possibility of a New Republic being formed that has collapsed in the interim. That actually feels like the most probable option to me. Thanks also for elaborating on the role of the Jedi Order in the eu below. Enlightening.

If there is no New Republic, though, what the hell has the former rebellion been doing all these years? How do the Jedi fit into it? (It really didn't make much sense, in the eu, that upon winning, the rebellion and Luke promptly set up almost the exact same system that got them in trouble in the first place, namely, a Republic with a rather undefined Jedi arm). Specifically, what has Han and Leia been up to? How does Hoth and Tattooine fit into it all? Are the mandalorians going to be the Big Bads, the new Empire? Gah! I have too many questions and not enough answers! Though it's debatable if I even want answers at this point. I think I just really need to see the freakin' movie. Only 559 days, 8 hours, 26 minutes, and 39 seconds to go...

Oh, god, I so want Luke to have his 'Attack of the Clones Yoda' moment in this new trilogy, so to speak. I mean, he's had thirty years since Return of the Jedi to hone his skills with a lightsaber and the force. I want to see him bust it out like he's never done before. I want to finally see Luke at the peak of his abilities. After all, we've never really seen him fight as a full fledged Jedi before, have we?

Wouldn't it be just horrible if the majority of time in the movie was spent on retro locations we've already seen? Tatooine, Hoth, Yavin IV, etc. I really hope it doesn't turn out like, 'hey, let's go everywhere we've already been in the original trilogy! It'll be awesome!' 'It WILL be awesome! Great idea, boss!'

Listen, I'm not saying you didn't have a right to be upset. Hell, I wasn't happy. I was, however, expectant that they would add more people to the cast as they went on. You have to admit that a lot of people stood by their knee-jerk reactions, as is so often the people's want, instead of taking the wait and see approach, a very similar stance to saying the movie's going to suck before anyone's even seen it, let alone a trailer. Still, I apologize if I offended. I'm happy about this.

I'll also point out that there's very little to be done about the makeup of the original cast returning. That is what that is. If you only regard the new cast though, it's appearing a lot more even keeled: five males, two of which are, for lack of a better word, 'ethnic', and three females, one of which is black. Is it a perfect ratio? No. Do you want it to be? For me, no, I really don't, it would come across as corporately driven, get all our demographics in a row, pandering, a sort of censorship.

Now, could all this turn sour? Could the female cast be relegated to secondary roles, and John Boyega become the token black guy, kill off in the first movie? It's too soon to tell, but I seriously doubt it. I'm still hoping that Daisy Ridley is the main character.

I want to say again that I'm sorry, and hope I've explained myself a bit better.
