Why would you stop that plan at some arbitrary point? While your level of support may vary over time, it is in everyone’s interest to always have a plan — and evolve that plan as life unfolds.

For myself, I want to enjoy my children while I am around, and if my financial plan looks like I’m going to have a lot left over when I’m gone, I’ll revise that plan to spend more today. And what better way to spend than on your own family?

I expect them to make their own way (and well they have). But I also take great joy in sharing in their success, and sharing mine when I can.

Re: Five Lives - HumbleDollar

Take Dilbert’s advice: buy a house if you want to live in a house and can afford it. Don’t be fooled into thinking that owning a home and paying a mortgage is an “investment”. It’s just one choice in how you provide yourself the basic need of shelter. But it is a cost of living, not an investment!

Re: Back By Popular Demand: The Amex Rose Gold - The Points Guy

Pick me!

http://refer.amex.us/PTUCKW...

Re: Alaska Upgrade Priority and How to Improve Your Chances

There’s something sneaky about the 75k, Gold, etc upgrade windows. E.g., if you buy a Gold upgrade fare, that is M, but you need H or better for the upgrade window? https://www.alaskaair.com/c...

Re: How the Equifax hack could have been avoided | Marketplace.org

The average person doesn't really care what Apache Struts is or how lame Equifax's security system is, they just want to know what they should be doing to protect themselves against this "protection racket". Of the financial companies that I interact with, the most well-reasoned advice I have seen so far comes from Wealthfront: https://blog.wealthfront.co... The key points: protect your email, use two-factor authentication, enable alerts on all your accounts, and oh yeah, freeze your credit record. If everyone does that, we can put these protection racketeers out of business.

Re: Dating After 40, Okay Hoping to Date After 40: Let's kick some _____

I guarantee if you google P T Withington, that's me.
