I began paying property tax in 2011. It is clear to me that we are dealing with problems of yesteryear today.

Why should it be my responsibility to atone for previous corruption, crime and irresponsible decision-making?

Why would anyone be excited about living in Chicago when there are so many other growing, exciting cities not far away?

Mayor, how long do you think it will take the city to work through its backlog of problems and how will that affect the city's ability to achieve its goals this year and in the next five years?

Re: Jamar Smith violates probation, now a wanted man

Not sure how this fits in with the whole "Indiana basketball blog" theme.

Re: Together at last: Armon Bassett and Mike Davis

I can see the conversation now:

MD: "Uhhh duhhhh ughhh uhhhhh"
AB: "Duuuuuuu Uhhhhhhh Duhhhhhhhh"

GO BLAZERS!

Re: Report: Maurice Sutton to Villanova

I wish I could channel the spoken word of God to make all of my difficult decisions. This is what Crean is paid to do - let the process run its course.

Re: One reason IU shouldn’t recruit Leonard Washington

I find it so amusing that the fan base that glorifies the role model for physical and verbal abuse in basketball ("RMK") would take such umbrage to a little physical abuse on the court.

Look, how old was the kid when this happened? Do we even know what was said? Sometimes people deserve to get popped in summer basketball. Has he matured since this incident?

The kid had an issue qualifying before - I am not one to cast him away for that and am not sure why others would. It would appear he did not do what was needed the first time, got his affairs in order, and has since meet the academic demands placed before him. What's the issue?

Until someone has sat down with the kid, as I am sure Coach Crean has or will, let's allow Coach to do his job, make the character and athletic evaluation and trust him to do what's right - we have no reason not to as a fan base. Comments left after the video and the posting of the actual video are what give our fan base such a bad name - Leonard elbowed someone in a basketball game! We better not recruit him!

The kids not applying for the Papacy here folks, everyone relax and let our Coach do his job.

Re: Indiana press release on dismissed players

I'll be sure to forward this post along to the second floor bartenders at Sport's and the local marijuana dealers. 3 of your top customers have vacated the Bloomington scene.

Re: The Morning After: Michigan State

Tremendous assessment here PostmanE, and my thoughts exactly.

I feel as though I have the emotional intelligence of a 14 year-old girl who didn't get asked to the first big dance in high school as it relates to this whole situation. True he has had to overcome some adversity that wasn't under his control, but he is going to be a first rounder for someone next year. I doubt he will be pouting about his college coaches while he is cashing checks and succeeding in the League.

The saddest thing is that Sampson screwed up once, had a clear ultimatum of what he could and could not do, and screwed up again. I'm fine with Kelvin being peaced today.

Re: Katz and ESPN: Major violations at IU

A week ago, Bob Knight leaves Texas Tech....This week, Sampson clearly looking at getting sent packing from IU....Coincidence? I have trouble being able to judge as Timmy has that he is worse now than he was as a freshman. He has only played twenty plus minutes against Michigan and Illinois and in the last four games he has played 4, 3, 6, and 5 minutes respectively. What do we really know about him as a player right now?

Eric Gordon to me was really the one who let us down this game. I felt like DJ missed a fair amount of shots he should have knocked down, but Gordon stuck out most. I even went as far to mention at the game that if given a choice between Ellis and Gordon, I would take Ellis right now.

I say that for a few reasons, but mainly for the fact that I feel like Gordon is missing the "edge" Ellis has. There was a ball on the floor near half court towards the end of the first half, and I distinctly remember Gordon not making an aggressive play, and UCONN ended up getting the ball I feel like if some guy started bodying Ellis and getting into him, he we come down on the other side and do the same, but with more tenacity and win the one-on-one battle. I am not asking for Gordon to be emotional and beat his chest or whatever. I am just saying I question his tenacity and for lack of something better than a cliche, playing with a chip on his shoulder.

People locally and nationally have been gripping Gordon every step of the way and maybe that has made him complacent. Gordon just seems like he is ok to not be involved in the offense at times, while I want to see him get the ball and attack the rim and draw fouls. Especiallly against an idiot like Thabeet (see fake out of him on the shot clock at the end of 1st half), Gordon should have been the one to attack him, not DJ shooting jumpers from the elbow and equivalent distance sideline jumpers.

Re: Keys to the game: Iowa Hawkeyes

In honor of PostmanR's bday (Happy Birthday, R!), I would like to see pics of him in his birthday suit. He is a great weapon against the zone for creating his own shot and creating shots for others.

I was at the game for a half, and was surprised to see the Hoosiers really crush Penn State at the end. Credit to Penn State for slowing down the game so much, that is basically what they have to do in order to keep things competitive, but impressive that the Hoosiers were able to gain a big lead in a game like that.

In all fairness, I was once of Lance's biggest haters at the start of this year, but must say that he has been instrumental to our success in the last three games. Outside of the possession where his man got 3 offensive rebounds in a row in the first half, he played another solid game and it is good to see him finally knocking down his shots. His rebounding and lack of physicality down low is of great concern for me.

Take Mich St for example: With Suton at Center, that leaves Lance to guard a player like Marquise Gray which is a horrible mismatch for him. Next Saturday's UCONN game will be interesting as well with DJ matching up on Thabeet, leaving Lance to fend off much more athletic players like Adrien and Robinson. I think our lack of athleticism at the four will really hurt us, but would like nothing more than to be proved wrong.
