Hey Fido/Rogers - if you do this, even as a decade long (plus) customer, I'm outa here - I'm already generally paying $10/mo for overages on my 6 gig plan as it is (for a total of over $100/month) and another $10 is my breaking point beyond which I WILL switch to Wind with my wife who's already been there for 2 years after ditching you as well. Even with some roaming when I'm outside their network it'll still be cheaper.

Last straw, your move.

Without being set to USA the "Add a card" option doesn't even show in Wallet, so I'm not sure how you managed that. You're probably still set on USA from a previous attempt?

You sure your phone isn't already on USA? It's listed as a required step before activation at this point. Not sure how you're even getting to the Wallet "add a card" option without such as it simply doesn't even show when set to Canada.

Wouldn't activate for me while still set to Canada. Perhaps it's because I have a very old card that's set to expire in months.

Having to switch to the USA for your region to make it work is an unexpected (and I would have thought, not functional) twist. But hey, I added my Amex..and it's working.

Except based on everything I understand about how AP is activated, it will need an iOS update. That update would be iOS 9.2 which is almost certainly *not* going to be released tomorrow as it just went to Beta3 six days ago and AFAIK hasn't gone to gold master and scheduled for release. Could be wrong, but AP activation in every other country coresponded to an iOS update in order to enable the related config screens for each country zone. As it stands currently you can't even try to add a card to Wallet without switching your region to another AP supported country first.

Obviously you missed the coverage the day that whole thing happened...I suggest Google may be of assistance. It was a real thing. I saw it. They confirmed it but played it out as a "mistake" on their website, etc etc. Read about it.

And I'm not holding my breath for Amex tomorrow either - I suspect this is another CS Agent who really had no business putting a date on things and now everyones running with it. I'll be happy it it happens (Since I have an Amex), but it's 10PM the night before it's supposed to go live and not a peep from Apple nor Amex, not to mention that everyones phones would need a software update to even enable AP to begin with, something else that hasn't been mentioned, much less happened.

Both Walmart and Home Depot now have NFC capable terminals after recent upgrades in the last 6 months, but NFC isn't enabled at any of them yet. As someone else mentioned, their IT is still being dragged down by their US roots.

Lots and lots of people saw the TD page, it was there, it was real. They're not putting pages together on their website for nothing..
and TD all but confirmed the "mistake" via Twitter.

Unless I missed it Apple didn't make a big deal out of this whatsoever – to the contrary they've been remarkably quiet about Apple Pay in Canada in general.

As mentioned the cat is out of the bag that TD is supporting it before the end of the year so any exclusivity won't last long

I'd be surprised if the smaller banks get it anytime soon. I suspect TD, RBC and CIBC will probably launch very close together but I'm thinking considering how long it's taken Apple to get things hashed out with the big banks here in Canada that the small banks aren't coming down the pipes anytime quick.

I've been going over routinely for the last few months...to the tune of 2-3 gigs over my 6 gig plan. I'm an avid podcast user, is that the culprit? Please post follow up, I'd sure like to get the overages credited.

Unfortunately Instagram is increasingly overrun with quantity over quality, and trying to use hashtags to search content you may find interesting is impossible when all of the popular ones are hijacked by every idiot/kid who just wants attention vs having anything interesting to offer and tags their latest selfie with hashtags that have absolutely nothing to do with the photo.

Add to that their spam issue and I gave up on it, as it appears many others did.

A voting or flag system that allowed people to flag garbage content and then reduces its visibility would be a nice touch.

I've been using the CardStar app on my iPhone for my shoppers card for quite a while. The scanners wouldn't successfully scan it until about a year ago when they started working. Never had trouble with this method until a few months ago when some stores started refusing to scan my phone because they were told the "official" app was in the works and unofficial methods were no longer to be accepted. Seemed stupid, it's just a freakin' barcode. People have been asking for this for years but Shoppers dragged their feet, but when they realized there was alternatives all of a sudden they wanted to clamp down.

With carriers like wind offering 5-10 gigs (and unlimited, albeit throttled beyond that) people who are heavy consumers (and as a result are regularly paying the big 3 data overage fees) are looking at them seriously as better options as a result...

So, I wouldn't be surprised to see the 6 gig plans make a sudden return at the incumbents sooner or later.

Glad to see debit included vs credit only. Debit NFC is widespread here already vs the traditional credit NFC being used in the USA. I don't want to be charging every little transaction I traditionally use tap for now to a credit card when my debit card sits unused in my wallet - I'd simply not use the feature in that case.

No, referencing the US side of roam like home which was also mentioned in the article. For Europe, I agree with others however - get your handset unlocked and buy a local sim for still a fraction of the cost of roam like home, with again...more to offer for it.

Less than half the daily cost for a whole lot more with Roam Mobility. Better then it used to be, but still far from the best option.

Mostly GTA. It's not perfect, signal is problematic inside some buildings and there are voice quality issues during peak times, but data and text are reliable which is the main concern. It's not without compromise, but for 1/3 of what we were paying before (for less!) no complaints.

Fido waived 6 months of my previous 3 year contract to get me to renew just before Christmas. I got a 6+ at the contract price and kept my grandfathered plan with unlimited talk/text and 6 gig data for about $80/Month all in. My wife jumped ship to Wind last summer, hasn't looked back. I'd do the same if their coverage map was broader but I work mostly outside it.
