UPDATE: Due to a large amount of interest in this post, I got some legal clarification. The bill says it applies to "any food establishment" or "any farm."

Clarification on "food establishment." These are described in the Definitions section of the bill. Description (8) expands the bill to cover "a food establishment that processes all other categories of food products not described." The bill covers almost anything an interpreter wants it to cover.

Clarification on "any farm." A farm is legally defined in the U.S. as "any place from which $1,000 or more of agricultural products were produced and sold, or normally could have been sold during the census year." The use of the word "any" in front of farm eliminates the financial test.

HR 875 Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009

SEC. 401. PROHIBITED ACTS.
It is prohibited--

(1) to manufacture, introduce, deliver for introduction, or receive in interstate commerce any food that is adulterated, misbranded, or otherwise unsafe;

(growing an organic tomato in your backyard is now illegal)

(2) to adulterate or misbrand any food in interstate commerce;

(as is transporting your organic food to another state)

(3) for a food establishment or foreign food establishment to fail to register under section 202, or to operate without a valid registration;

(you are prohibited from growing a tomato in your backyard without purchasing a license then submitting to the following:)

(4) to refuse to permit access to a food establishment or food production facility for the inspection and copying of a record as required under sections 205(f) and 206(a);

(growing a tomato in your backyard without regular government inspections and the purchase and use of mandated chemicals and pesticides from government-approved suppliers)

(5) to fail to establish or maintain any record or to make any report as required under sections 205(f) and 206(b);

(failing to document compliance for all food you produce)

(6) to refuse to permit entry to or inspection of a food establishment as required under section 205;

(growing a tomato without submitting to search and seizure of your personal property)

Kathy, you might want to contact the company/brand of those raw almonds, I highly doubt they are raw. The law allows them to be labeled as 'raw almonds' when in fact they are not and have been pasteurized, because according to the law, a pasteurized almond is a raw almond...it's terrible the levels you must go to in order to eat healthy. I buy all my raw almonds from the farmers market.

I use Dr. Bronner's as well. I still have yet to try regular hemp oil, but I do eat hemp seeds. You should check out www.GoodGuide.com its a new startup that allows you to discover whats really in the products you use. One of my favorite sites. They have a very useful iphone app.

When I first watched this video I was shocked. The biggest problem is there's very little corporate regulations on any products in the majority of other countries. The Philippines is one of the worst, our food corporations are literally doing science experiments with them.

twitter - your absolutely correct, we all have to learn to manage stress. I do yoga several times a week, and recently started to meditate, which is harder than I thought. To help, I light a candle and star at the flame, its more relaxing than I had ever imagined.

I have received a lot of emails telling me about the fluoride in green tea. I had no idea. I'm trying to do a bunch of research on it. I do buy very good, organic loose leaf green tea, but I drink about 3 cups a day. Any more info on green tea and fluoride would be great.

Carla I agree with you, consuming the leaves does provide significantly greater health benefits. I usually buy loose leaf tea, and depending on the type, I'll drink the tea with the leaves in it. I've heard many of my friends mention matcha but have yet to try it. Becuase of your comment, I'll try some this weekend and check out your site recommendation. Thanks!

Quick Update: I was contacted by Mike Adams last night via email. I responded by addressing all of the accusations and assumptions that were made, along with expressing my apology. Now, I have been going through my articles to ensure that I’ve correctly sourced them. I must say, I still am slightly disappointed regarding his attack and even his current article stating I am a “massive article pirate” when so far I’ve found 12 occasions where I have used his work, and they all have NaturalNews listed as a source. Some of them didn’t have a direct link to the article; just to the site, but I have updated those now.

In any case, I’m making this experience as positive as I can. I’ve learned to correct the mistakes I was making which is always a good thing. I’ve discovered how powerful the internet can be and more importantly I’ve been connecting with hundreds of you out there who understand that we all need to work together and focus our energy on the more important message of natural health and freedom of truthful information.

Hi everyone, I appreciate all of the comments regardless of your position. I’m still in shock with what’s been happening. I’ve actually received several serious death threats (not sure why someone would take it this far) and since my address was published; my family is freaking out, so I’ve decided to stay at my friends place, just in case. I never thought it would go this far so you just never know. I brought my goji berries and green tea.

On a more positive note, Mike un-banned me from his google connect and I am in the process of sending him a message as well as going through my articles to make sure I’ve correctly sourced them.

I’d like to say I appreciate all of the comments, even the negative ones. Stephanie you are correct I’m not malicious, just clueless. My blog is only a few months old. I have very little traffic and I’m learning as I go. It doesn’t make it right, that I didn’t know how to correctly source. I just didn’t know.

I agree that if I was not citing my sources correctly that Mike or someone could have at least contacted me. I just don’t agree with the way he personally attacked me without at least trying to contact me.

I do plan on going back through all my articles and making sure they have all been cited, sourced correctly.

To everyone out there, I DO want to apologize but Mike Adams is not letting me. I tried to contact him, no response. Tried to post a comment on his site, just to apologize, but I’ve been banned from his google connect. So Mike if you’re reading this, I would very much like to work this out and fix any issues etc. I want to move past this and get back to focusing on getting more health information out there.

Hi everyone! I would like to say a few things. First to Mike Adams: You mention in your article that you have tried to contact me several times. This simply isn’t true, so far I have NEVER been contacted by you or naturalnews. I would however really like to get in contact with you. You’ve ‘banned’ me from making any comments on your site, so when you say I can leave a comment to contact you, it’s actually not possible. Just so you’re aware as I would like to get a hold of you.

To the ‘comment spammer’ this is my first comment, all the others were left by actual people. Which leads me to Mike’s attack that I am not a real person. I would like everyone to know I am real. My name is Jason Cairns and all the contact info Mike gave you is real. Along with my bio, health condition and passion for health and the environment. You can see me on a ‘test’ video I made on my webisodes page.

It’s too bad this situation has occurred. I honestly did not know I was incorrectly sourcing my articles. Many sites just copy articles verbatim, and toss the source at the end of it. I guess you can’t do that. I did forget to source him on the vit. d article, which I have fixed, but I’ve sourced naturalnews many times before.

I’ve also never said I was the author of each article and always list sources. I would agree the ‘about the author’ section now 'about me' placed at the very bottom of the page is potentially misleading, it’s suppose to reference the site as a whole, not each article, a simple fix.

Regardless of the mistakes I made, I still think it’s terrible how Mike made such a personal attack without even trying to contact me once. I’m not perfect, I make mistakes, I’m learning as I go. A simple call from Mike, or email from anyone explaining I should do it this way, not this way could have solved this. I really am a nice, honest human. I truly have a deep dedication and passion for educating people on health and the true power it has.
