The world still has depth and meaning and little girls who will grow up to be Dorothy Gale. The difficulty in finding such kindred spirits is that most of the weirdos are trying to live on the downlow 'til they're strong enough to throw off the conditioning. So let me play tour guide and impart something that I had to hurt a lot of people to learn. Really listen: if you don't love people when they're dumb and fucked up then you don't love them.

You can appreciate the art and not the artist. Picasso was a douche; Orson Scott Card hates gays. They make great art, and their works require no defense. Pete Wentz is a charismatic asshole, and there's something wrong with his brain. If you don't like that, you don't have to read his blog. If you do like him for what he is and can judge him on a standard of how well he is being what he claims to be, then offer suggestions as to how to do it better. But claiming to care while at the same time implying that someone is not worth caring about unless they live up to your expectations is both unrealistic and mean spirited. I don't think that's the vibe you're going for.

It's a lot of thought and effort to put in for someone, unless you care about them. My typing this to you right now is because I care. You inhabit the world I live in, and any confusion I can clear up in it makes our world better. So if you care, do him a favor and don't censor him (it is his blog), just present a case for doing it differently. In the end, that's all the influence we have with other people. Learn to use it well. Learn to care for people as they are, and not as you'd like them to be.

Re: A Homeboy's Life - speaking of 90 percent and 10 percent. they dont...

Haven't I seen you on /b/?

Re: A Homeboy's Life - speaking of 90 percent and 10 percent. they dont...

My demotivatorz, let me show you them. :D

Re: A Homeboy's Life - speaking of 90 percent and 10 percent. they dont...

Read blogs, download porn, and ignore how vast the world is compared to us.

Re: from a response on here:

Well, they turned on the Large Hadron Collider a few days back, and while there is a non-zero chance of creating microscopic black holes and destroying the world, it looks like we're not getting that lucky and will have to vote down McCain/Palin without recourse to imploding the earth.

Is it just me, or is that woman creepy? It's harder to do than going to a voting station, but if you know of a company that supports a candidate that you don't support, or is part of a congressional lobby that you believe to be bad for your country, then don't buy their stuff. I shop small businesses but also at Target and get gasoline from Shell or Chevron because within the ranks of the megacorporations, they are the most ethical.

It requires a higher degree of investment in research to know where your money is going, but those are the decisions you have power over. This girl obviously had a venue who decided that they had a local monopoly on Fall Out Boy and decided to run wild with the ticket prices.

I didn't get to see Tiesto when he played Dallas this summer for much the same reason. If your fans want to support you more than they care about the charity (and they probably do), then why not just run with it and have a fandom charity popularity contest?

A text setup like the one above paired with website where people can both donate and see updates would appeal to humanity's competitive nature.
