You neglected to mention Tom Agnew, a curious omission. Councilmember Agnew didn´t vote for Lamb for Mayor and yet he has endorsed him over Samberg precisely because Lamb builds consensus while she does not. By your telling Lamb has brainwashed everyone including the overwhelming majority of those who know and have worked with both Lamb and Samberg like the past two Chairs of the Planning Commission she served on (and after the election you will no doubt say he brainwashed the voters). But Lamb´s campaign is totally positive while Samberg is only attacking.

Samberg´s donations tell their own story of special interests. Ann Aagard is her benefactor, the same Ann Aagard who has cost the City millions with her appeals of anything resembling progress. Samberg joined with Aagard to bring legal action against the city in 1995, a year after she moved into the city!

What was her beef, that the city was planning for too many jobs! Tris Samberg has an extreme anti growth agenda she has been pursuing ever since she moved here, rather than run on her own merits she wants to silence Lamb by switching seats at the last minute after she told the community she was tired of being on council http://www.pnwlocalnews.com...

This is a lie, one of many emerging from self-interested Fire District 1. Bothell has an interlocal agreement with Fire District 7 to provide employment for up to 5 firefighters. The response time argument is bogus: the cardiac survival rate in Bothell is over 50% (the highest in the nation), the fire districts won´t even publish what it is for them so one has to assume it is lower than the 17% national average. A city can increase its population by 45% and keep the same level of service because the tax revenue currently flowing to the Fire Districts will flow to the city of Bothell. Fire District employees (like you used to be Bud) oppose this because their bloated salaries will be threatened. The Chief in Fire District One makes $213,000 a year which will increase to $270,000 in 2012 while the chief in Bothell makes $140,000. Your firefighters make over $112,000 annually. Is this about public safety or keeping a District with very lax oversight and a bloated budget protected from competition? To ask the question is to answer it.

It is not addressed because the Bothell City Council voted to not make the annexed area assume the city debt.

The McMenamins deal was in the works for a year and a half and was widely discussed and known in the community. Patrick Ewing also wanted more time but unlike Samberg he voted to support the contract. Samberg wants to have it both ways; she likes McMenamins but voted against it. Not unlike her claim in this election to have "fought" to save the North Creek Forest after having lectured citizens trying to do just that she didn't support them because they wanted "government to buy your back yard". Anyone who goes back and watches that meeting will see who is spinning and who is telling it straight.

Class comments by Agnew, he is starting off on the right foot.

The irony is Guinn was the most neighborhood sensitive (aka concerned about too much development) of the majority on the council. Those who targeted her (yes you Nola, Ann Aagard, Pat Pierce and Ernie Bellecy) just lost their only effective advocate for someone whose comments on development issues were that downtown heights on Main street should be higher and the permit process is too slow. Nice work guys, you really do eat your own and make the perfect the enemy of the good.

Pretty sage advice. I share your sense that Agnew may actually be a nice guy who was recruited by people driven by personal animosity. He could go either way. If he is to be successful you are right there is no better place to start than to distance himself from the toxic and deeply weird politics that Moritz represents.

Sadly this race may have been decided by a last minute smear letter by Ernie Bellecy that went out to the entire city. Sandy Guinn supported Bellecy for the Planning Commission twice and he repaid her by sending out a letter calling her a liar to thousands signed as "Planning Commissioner Ernie Bellecy". The letter is replete with inaccuracies but it was sent out so late Sandy had no time to respond. She deserved a lot better especially since she stuck up for him countless times when others wanted to boot him from the Planning Commission. My sense is those who targeted, smeared and defeated Sandy may learn the curse of be careful what you wish for.

I find it hard to believe that the Mayor has the time to meet Bill Moritz and look at the books for his crummy website. I am CERTAIN Mortiz would memorialize this moment on film so do please send the picture asap or a link to this bizarro world website!

Nola, you said Josh Freed owned a building on main street. He does not, as a cursory visit to the county website demonstrates. When I pointed this out you never even had the decency to admit you were wrong. I informed him you lied about him in the post and being the bigger person he is he said forget about it.

You flatter yourself to assume anyone is as obsessed with you as you clearly are with Mr. Freed. It would be funny if it weren't so depressing that you actually think I (or anyone) would drive to your house and rip out signs from your yard. There is no "dark side" other than the internal demons you clearly wrestle with daily.

That said I don't believe you are threat to your neighbors, Mr. Moritz is. He has a history of weird and threatening behavior which (as Anne pointed out) he even posts on his "Beautiful Mind" website. I don't intend to meet the same fate as his former neighbor, your taunting notwithstanding.

"Darkside"?? Really? I don't think you're evil, or even bad. I just disagree with you in a city council election and think you read too much into things. Signs for example, it was Halloween last night -- are you really certain its a campaign against you and your candidates? I have seen EVERY candidates' signs knocked over, I don't assume its a hate crime.

As for posting under assumed names, you were sort of "outed" against your will and now seem to wear it as a badge of honor. As long as Bill Moritz is threatening people those who know him (and live by him) are not going post our names and subject ourselves to his harassment. There is a reason his neighbor got a restraining order against him.

But you Nola, have a great election night and try to smile! Life isn't all that horrible even if you lose. And honestly, you should watch the debate tonight at 7pm, who knows it might even ch-ch-change your mind! :)

Hi! I posted your letter to remind people you have something of an ax to grind and were just as unhappy with the Joyce Wojcik Planning commission as you appear to now be with the council. Also to show that unlike every other poster here, you only want people to get their information from one source -- you and bill moritz. I hope people watch the debate today at 2pm and 7pm, visit ALL the websites, read the voter's pamphlet statement and the candidate literature. Open minds with lots of information are smart voters. People who are reduced to chanting the same tired lines they have for a year and a half are not. Sorry.

The Bothell Planning Commission is trying to push through a rezoning at the edges of the downtown development. Instead of a building height limit of 35 feet, they want to raise it to 51 feet, and that doesn’t include the roof, etc. They want buildings on Main Street to be able to go to 75 feet. Can you say tunnel?

This means all the areas behind the library and planning building will develop into apartments and condos that look directly into the houses on top of the hill. Everyone will lose the views and walkable feeling they have fought so hard to preserve in the years the comprehensive plan was put together. The drawings on the Bothell city Web site for what they predict Bothell to look like is a ruse to keep the citizens quiet as they quickly pass these rezoning laws.

The next meeting is at 6 p.m. May 28 at the court house. We need everyone, whether you speak up or not, to be at the meeting to show the planning department and the developers (who don’t live in Bothell) we are mad as hell and we don’t want this in our town.

Facts are stubborn things. As you have conceded health insurance is no longer an issue, no matter who is elected the council won't get it. The Bothell cops and firefighters are happy with their benefits and are voting for Guinn, Freed, Spivey and Armenta. They have spoken on their choices and they do the hard work of protecting people like you and me.
