That and multiplayer being so popular gives some games better legs to sell more copies over time.

Like most of our top selling games, single player only games that sell well are rare, take a look at the above list.

I see one definitive single player game in God of War 3, which is impressive for a console exclusive. All the other games can be played with a friend or have online features/multiplayer.

Re: Movie-List - Machete Trailer Page

bahaha lol awesome.

Re: Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 box art revealed

Naruto is in sage mode as well, look at his eyes.

Re: Nier began as an Xbox 360 exclusive

Everything is going multi-platform these days if possible, it isn't about loyalty to a company or whatever, it's all about the money. Where in Japan the PS3 dominates over the 360, it is far more even in america and europe. So when the shareholders see that they could get more money going multiplatform, they try and make it happen. If Versus goes to the 360, the only reason will be for the money. I still believe Microsoft shelled out some cash to Square-Enix along with the tv ad's for the 360 bundle for FF13. In the end the PS3 version was superior anyways. -_-

Re: Square Enix’s ‘Project X’ is an RPG

It would be cool if they did something with atlus.

Re: ICO HD screenshots add weight to our shorts

I think its only a matter of time until this happens, considering how fast the God of War collection made it to the greatest hits line. Like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, etc. They can keep improving on that same formula and the fans will love it. If they want to do something different, make a new ip, look how successful the world ends with you was for Square-Enix.

I'm all up for new innovative titles, but I think Bioware should just focus on what they do best, and let the JRPG developers do what they do best.

After all they tend to market to the jp gaming community first, and the west second. We have started to see some games come from Japan marketed towards western gamers, like Nier, which is fine by me, I'm always down for new stuff.

It's not like we don't have games just like the ones they describe above here in america and europe.

To quote what I'm talking about here-
“They kept making the same thing, and the same thing, and, in a sense, almost provided an opening for all of us to jump in with our style of games."

Several of our shooters are very much the same, Call of Duty, Halo, Gears, etc. They add to the formula and bring new tweaks and changes, but one could technically say... Gosh these games are the same thing each year.

There isn't really anything wrong with that, and fans usually want more of the same with improvements and new features.

JRPG's have been using that formula for years now, why should they change it?

My point is, they could say the same thing about Call of Duty, or a handful of things.

Everyone has an opinion, if they don't like JRPG's, that's fine, but they shouldn't come out in the open and say they need to change the formula.

Re: Nomura confirms new Kingdom Hearts for E3; Final Fantasy Versus XIII “progressing smoothly”

Cut the guy a break, he is one of the best still working for Square-Enix, we know in the end he will deliver.

Re: Troy Baker confirms Tales of Vesperia PS3 localization (in video)

It only makes sense to release it soon, the Vesperia anime movie will probably be coming overseas in the next few months as well. After several in game hours you got a chocobo license from a nearby npc. Then you could ride it all around the world map, but not inside a few select places of course. As the game developed they eventually added more features. Like FF13, you could dig for treasure, and even feed your chocobo and visit it in the stable to try and keep it healthy, etc.

Re: First three in-game scans of Final Fantasy Versus XIII

Insert girly squeal here! I think it can be, but just not for gaming. You need a controller, its part of gaming.

As for the move, Sony is putting it out there for people who want to give it a go, but don't expect a million dollar advertisement plan for the move.

MS has already said they have a large marketing plan for Kinect underway, somewhere in the millions. I read that and realized just how much they are going for it with Kinect. This is like an all or nothing for them, which I think is insane. 150 usd is far to much for a casual consumer, and unlike the wii, everything you need does not come available in a simplified package for a respectable price.

Each year one of the big three put out a stinker in the hardware section of gaming, for example, last year was Sony with the PSPgo. They played it smart and didn't put all there eggs in one basket with it, so when it sunk like the titanic, they didn't lose quite so much.

To sum this up, basically...if no one gives a shit about Move, the same thing can be said for Kinect.

And where sony is treating the move (Which is still not a great price for the entire set of hardware) as a side project, MS is treating Kinect like an AAA title.

If they lowered the price down to 50, and released it with the sports game pack, along with something like Fable 3, that could be successful for them. Going about it the way they currently are spells disaster imo.

Re: Metal Gear Solid creator to continue creating Metal Gear Solid games

I hope for Kojima-san's sake, they let him work on other games as well.

Re: Final Fantasy XIV beta “starting soon”

Exactly, some of us don't like WOW...

Re: Team ICO “hard at work” on The Last Guardian

I think it will be at TGS.
