This article's author is incredibly ignorant. "Starlink" and "existing providers" and "fiber not necessary for rural areas". Let's explore some of these things. Starlink has had, and still has serious capacity issues. When first launched it could only support a few thousand high speed connections simultaneously worldwide. It has vastly improved, but the cost is high for what it is. It also has relatively high latency given it is satellite internet. Existing providers are rolling out internet expansion, usually, very slowly in most areas. In my area the best speed that has been available for over a decade is 2mbps.

The idea that fiber is "not the best solution in every case" is quite frankly, laughable. It is literally the best solution in every case. Any wired alternative isn't cost effective. Wireless options are limited, and have bandwidth issues. The underlying argument this author is making is that rural households don't need the bandwidth urban households need, so crappy wireless options can be implemented instead. It doesn't work like that. We have computers, smart phones, smart TVs, and having to use one device at a time, and deal with near constant forced updates, that are only near constant, because slow speeds mean they can take days. It is a frustrating experience at the best of times. This author likely never lived in a rural area without high speed internet options, and is spreading their ignorant opinion like it is a fact.

Fiber lines are ran right up to my house as I type this, and have been for over a year, but they are not active, because of ignorant people pushing ignorant ideas, causing pausing to funding that would have brought the first high speed internet option to our area.

You do know there was a lengthy approval process for the funds, and all the documents have been submitted for approval, then Trump was elected and paused the program...right? Yeah the whole challenge process was a cluster of stupidity, but everyone jumped through the hoops, even though it took years, and before funds could be released. Trump, not Biden, froze the whole thing.

This would have been better without the grandfather behaving like a complete idiot for no other reason than to make the fight a struggle, and the MC then having plot armor because the author couldn't write a better fight.
