The action taken by 3 members of the Council today sent an entirely unacceptable message to the public that illegal fireworks are OK. I wonder if they actually realize that.

Mr. Patterson - Only 10 shots every night? And from firearms? Consider yourself fortunate; most of us living here in the more populated areas of the county are forced to contend with hundreds of unwelcomed 'shots' per hour from illegal fireworks for multiple days before and after the 4th of July. So, yes, I do believe the fireworks ban should upheld but not simply because of the noise. There are other reasons for retaining the ban as were expressed in my letter.

JHB did exactly what was required by the oath of office she took when she was elected. It's unfortunate but not at all surprising that some people don't seem to comprehend or understand that.

Frankly, it's been pretty obvious to most people for many years just why the fireworks ban in the unincorporated areas of Clark County was justified and should be retained. Now, IMHO, the only reason - and I repeat, the ONLY reason - the ban is now being reconsidered is due to the recent election of one of the Clark County Council members. Does anyone else see or have a problem with that?

Quite frankly, I'm personally shocked and discouraged by the number of supposedly educated and intelligent people here in Clark County and nationally, who - for whatever reason - can't seem to get it through their thick heads that we all are facing a VERY dangerous and serious public health threat because of COVID-19. The increasing numbers of positive cases - and deaths - don't lie, people! Those people who are NOT masking up and practicing social distancing really need to wake up and exercise some of that 'personal responsibility' that many of you claim is important before it's too late! You can start today - right now!
