I was going out with this amazing girl who was just right for me, but she didn't want to have kids. At first I figured that it was something that she would eventually change her mind about, because all women what children, right?

I then realised that she was dead set on not having kids. I had to choose between being with this awesome woman and knowing that I wasn't going to have kids, or not have this awesome woman and having the option of having kids. We've been married for almost 5 years now.

I came to the conclusion that my life wasn't worth living if I didn't have her in it, and so I accepted that children were not meant to be. When I thought about it, there were plenty of chances that I wouldn't or couldn't have kids even if I decided to try my luck elsewhere.

There are days I think about kids but I have never regretted my decision.

However this might not be the right decision for you to take. Blondie is right when she says that you really need to talk it over, and over and over, until you have all the facts at your disposal. He may have some fears brought on from his childhood or just doesn't want the responsibility. It might be he just doesn't want kids today and doesn't want to get your hopes up. Just talk and get the facts.

But don't pretend that some day he might just change his mind. He may do, but he may never. At the end of the day, if he tells you that he doesn't want kids and you can't live with that option then only you can work out what is best.

Re: Elk Espresso at Broadbeach.

I need more of those shirts. I have massive problems with the BMI. I just can't see how such a simplistic formula can be a determination of someone's health, or even their risk of having a health issue. "Correlation does not equal causation" has become a bit of a catch-cry recently, but it's true.

The other issue is the notion of being "overweight". Over what weight? Well, it's some arbitrary weight that has been set by someone with no idea of an individual's body make up, how their body works, their eating and health history etc. Even with weight watches you get a healthy weight range. Are you "overweight" if you aim for the upper number in the range or should you try for the lower number?

You are dead set right when you mention that we need to discuss what are sensible measures of health.

Re: Malaysia Kitchen Insider: Little Malaya, Coolangatta.

"In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions."

Natalie has mentioned in any post related to anything that anyone has given her or provided for her that she got something for free, or cheaper, or whatever. That's honest, truthful and accurate.

She could have written that I devoured my Crispy Skin Chicken and loved it but she didn't. I did find the bones gross because I have issues with chicken bones. But the chicken itself was delicious, if not a bit fatty (but you get that with crispy skin anything) and the sauce was amazing.

Anyway, it's Natalie's blog. I don't see why people think they get the right to dictate the type of content that appears on someone's personal blog.

Re: Taking back prissy.

No denying from this perkinses

Re: Malaysia Kitchen Insider: Chilli ‘n Spicy Hut, Burleigh.

I am Nick Perkins and I consent to the content of this message.

As in the food was bloody awesome and would love to go back again!

Re: I review emerginC red carpet primer… for my grey carpet life.

Natalie and I had a conversation about all the different mascaras that we found one week we were in a chemist. I'll paste my response anyway as I think it is important.
Warning: Discusses suicide and mental health.

--

You mention that being fat causes suicide. Wrong. How can being a shape directly cause suicide?

It is the hatred, the abuse, the taunts and the bullshit that we cop from people like you that cause fat people to become depressed, suffer from anxiety and sometimes leads to suicide atempts.

No one here has ever said to you that you have to be fat and join us. No one here has gone out of their way to stop you from doing what you want to do. Fat people don't taunt you and abuse you because your body is different to theirs. What right do we have to do that? None. Therefore, what right do you have to abuse and be cruel to fat people? None.

Fat acceptance is about equal rights for people no matter what size they are. Every person has a right to be accepted for who they are. Even you have the right to be accepted just the way you are.

I will never agree with someone who uses hatred to abuse and belittle people because of a physical attribute, whether that be race, size, height, sex or whatever else. And I will always call bullshit on people who do.

And to you, I call bullshit. You have no right to come here and sprout your hate. You have no right to come here and abuse fat people. I can think of no possible reasons why it is ok to abuse anyone. None.

Re: Significant Others and The Road to Acceptance

As someone who is trying to move towards intuitive eating, I don't like hearing all this talk of "putting your foot down" as someone else has suggested.

You shouldn't have to eat whatever someone else tells you. You should have the option to have as little or as much of one thing or another as you wish to. And no one should tell you what you can or cannot eat.

In the case of your boyfriend, if he wants to not eat carbs then that is his choice whether you agree with it or not. Just like no one can force you to eat carbs, or eat vegetarian, or whatever.

You can talk to him about it and say to him that from whatever reasearch you have done that it doesn't seem like a healthy thing to do, but that it is his call. At the end of the day it is his body and what does (or doesn't) go into it is his choice, no one elses.

The last thing anyone should do is demand that you eat whatever is put in front of you. There are thoughts that this sort of action used on children is a starting point for some eating disorders.

Re: Introducing Dastardly Donut.

I saw that argumenet a couple of days ago on the JB blog as well. I think that is fine to say. Saying "I don't like it when an obese person sits next to me and touches me" isn't. It's reinforcing the idea that the issue is with the fact that the person is obese.

A friend of mine complained about a shop attendant who wasn't white Australian and they mentioned what race they thought they came from. The issue was the level of service, not the race of the person. Therefore, why bring it up? So I challenged them. They didn't like that and I don't think they got the point, but they at least thought about it.

I find myself now days checking how I say something because the meaning I have behind what I say can be changed just by the addition of a few extra words. I don't like bad driving habits, but I don't say "&#@!woman driver" because I wouldn't say "&#@! man driver" as a matter of course. I keep it to "&#@! driver" instead.
