I wonder if he ever has second thoughts over what he's gotten himself into. I don't know if he could ever have imagined that it would be like this. I've never seen anything like it. It's a little scary and rather unfair when someone is placed upon a pedestal like that. I have to constantly remind myself that he's a human being and that he can and will make mistakes. However, what strikes me about this man is his character. He has a heart of solid gold. I'm very forgiving of mistakes made by a person of solid character, whereas on the other hand, I'm rather impatient with and intolerant of mistakes made by an asshole.

Although I'm completely out at my office, I wouldn't risk calling in "gay". It's pretty risky in Oklahoma, where we GLBT folks have no rights or protections whatsoever.

The best and most effective way for the GLBT community to fight this is through peaceful demonstration and through the courts, as well as petitions to have the tax exempt status removed from any religious organizations that contribute money to or campaign for or against public ballot initiatives regarding gay marriage. This is not a religious issue. It is a STATE issue and religious organizations have no constitutional rights or say in the matter.

I read this yesterday on Change.gov and quite honestly, this is some of the most encouraging news yet. It is a real sign to me that this president means just exactly what he says--that he is going to really work for change in our government!

I believe that she probably is a "victim" of mishandling by the McCain campaign, (I don't think that they liked her from the very beginning), but I'm also pretty confident that she isn't ready by any standard to be Vice President. Her interviews with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric , as well as the VP debate, are all proof of that.

“I have repeatedly said that I think it’s entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don’t think that “mental distress” qualifies as the health of the mother. I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term. Otherwise, as long as there is such a medical exception in place, I think we can prohibit late-term abortions.

The other email rumor that’s been floating around is that somehow I’m unwilling to see doctors offer life-saving care to children who were born as a result of an induced abortion. That’s just false. There was a bill that came up in Illinois that was called the “Born Alive” bill that purported to require life-saving treatment to such infants. And I did vote against that bill. The reason was that there was already a law in place in Illinois that said that you always have to supply life-saving treatment to any infant under any circumstances, and this bill actually was designed to overturn Roe v. Wade, so I didn’t think it was going to pass constitutional muster.”

Abortion is not infanticide. And if you're referring to partial birth abortion, the ONLY reason that Obama didn't vote for a ban on it was because it didn't include an exception to save the mother's life.

Obama doesn't support late term abortion, nor does he support infanticide.

I knew this was coming. The only question was when. I'm afraid that President Obama and his family will not be quite as accessible to the public as other presidents have been simply because of the amount of security that will be required to keep them safe. I'm sure that they are aware of this and are probably preparing themselves for it. Still it sickens and saddens me that race is still such an issue in this country. I am praying that the Obama presidency will be the beginning of the end or racism for us.
