I guess the same would apply to auto accidents, no one should die because it would deny them of a fair trial. So if someone breaks into you home go ahead and allow him to kill your family so he can have a fair trial. Folks I've seen stupid in my life but this one is at the top.

You know folks, I guess there comes a point where you have to ask yourself just what is it she is looking for? I know she is upset that her side lost the election, she is mad and angry, I get that. But to uphold burning the flag that our fighting men and women have shed their blood and died for is ok. As a Vet I take exception to this act and yes I agree there should be some sort of consequence for doing it. If she hates this country and our new President then why doesn't she just leave. Go find a country that is more in line with her off center thinking.

It's a shame we don't have term limits for members of Congress. If we had term limites then the career politician would have no choice but to think of his or her job of representing the people of this country instead of their next election. Of course this will never happen, it is the career politicians that would have to vote this into law, think they would do it? We don't have one who will stand up and suggest it. May God have mercy on us and our future.

Right on. That is why it is referred to as "precious" metals and not the precious euro, yen or dollar. It is absolutely amazing just how easy it is to move the masses with just a word or two on the evening news. Wise investors, (and they are few in number) have always known gold is a good investment. China is indeed taking advantage of a slight down turn and praying for deeper cuts. Who knows "sheeple" here may soon be mailing their gold to China for the best price. And the beat goes on.....

We are being hearded now daily, as if one huge flock of sheep. The one thing that holds this movement together is the fact that we, the sheeple, tend to take everything we are told on the news as the truth. We don't do any research or ask the hard questions that deserve the hard answers. It's the "oh well" attitude that keeps the sheep hearders in power, and they are loving every minute of it.

Stock market, gold prices, value of our dollar is nothing more then sound bites that cause us to do the things they want us to do in order to fill their newest order of the day. You are absolutely right when you wrote "They want you to sell your gold, so they can buy it back." It reminds me of the early thirties when the government did take gold from it's citizens. We are seeing the beginning of just such a move right now.

Now if they can get all the private firearms. It is much easier to herd unarmed sheep then armed ones. As for my outlook on 2012 ? I don't see things getting better. Unemployment will rise, more and more homes will fall into foreclosure and banks will continue to do what they do best, nothing. Your money, what little you may still have, is probably best kept in a jar buried in the back yard then in a bank. Ok, now that my blood pressure is up I'll close.

We are headed down this road of tax more and I'm afraid the only winers will be the losers. When we look at what's happening in the EU right now you would think this would be a wake up call for us, but that's not the case. We are now going to help to bail out the losers in the EU. Through the IMF, our portion would be our tax dollars, is going to help the situation out over there. Keep working folks, pay those taxes, remember there are people you don't know depending on YOU.

As the economy continues to spiral downward, and the cost of doing business continues to rise, you and I are the ones who will pay the price. Regardless of what they call it, baggage fee's, going to the bathroom or what, the cost of doing business is simply passed on to you and I. Most travel today is for reasons of have to, rather then want to, in my opinion. Hold on partner, everything is on it's up.

Dear Tommylee, I agree with you up to a point. Bailout is not the answer, but supporting growth is. Let's put this in another perspective. A business owner today has plans that would expand his or her business, creating more jobs and increasing their income. They need capital to do this. The obvious place to seek this funding would be the banks, they go and are turned down. No expansion, no new jobs and no additional income. Why would a bank turn them down? They are throwing billions at other businesses, (Wall Steet) why not to the small business owner? I don't think banks should just give money away to people who have no viable plan or perhaps not credit worthy, but I do think it is crime when banks just shut down their role in our economic process which casues the rest of the economy to fail. In my opinion this is the simplest form of "economic terrorism". If this were done by an outside group trying to disrupt our economy someone would either be shot or go to jail, well? The banks can hide all they want and the government can help them hide, the fact remains that they play a vital role in the economy of this nation and they have failed to do so for the past two years. Am I the only one who see's this?

I too wish Market Man a great downsize move, there are more and more people downsizing today, not a bad concept considering what may be on the horizon for us. This brings me to respond and clairify a couple of issues that I see within our banking industry. First we must all realize that there are worms in our system, real worms, they are raised on Wall Street and within the big banks. Is it greed that is driving these guys, 100%, nothing more, nothing less. When I think of an economy, in any country, I think of three things. The supply side, (manufacturing) the demand side, (consumers) and the financial supply side, (banks) that actually make the first two puzzle parts happen. Manufacturing needs money to expand and grow and hire more workers, the demand side needs financing in order to make those purchases, both of which depend on the third part of the puzzle, financing, banks lending. I don't see what is so hard to understand. I look at our friends in the small country of Denmark, their economy has bounced back and unemployment is going down daily, all because their central bank told all the banks, no more money. No more money unless you start loaning to small businesses and assist with expansions of these small businesses, and new businesses looking to start up. You see, they understand that without funding, banks and lending, nothing is going to happen. Let's look at an economy on much simpler scale. A crago/container ship taking goods and products to those who want to purchase them. Nothing hard to understand so far, right. Now the safty net that will ensure that this ship completes it's mission is it's pumps. You see the supply side of the economy has done it's job, it produced and put the product on the ship. The buyers are waiting to see the new products and hopefully to purchase them. Now the financing arm kicks in and makes all this possible. If you turn the financing off then you have turned off the pumps of the ship and it will sink over time. As I see it now the water is up around the top of engines and rising. Things are not good on main street, but things are great on Wall Street and within the big banks. I would say that perhaps the government may need to take over, but then I am shocked back into reality, it's the government that has either been too stupid to see and understand this, or they are simply the head of the problem. Would lending help small businesses expand, develope and start up and start hiring more workers? Absolutely it would. If those new workers were to make application for a new loan to do a little purchasing they would now qualify because they now have what? A paycheck, what a concept.
My solution to this problem is stil lthe same. The Fed should start a new policy that from now on all banks that borrow shall pay a higher percentage for the money, today they are paying almost nothing. This percentage goes down if they agree to loan a certain percentage to the growth of small businesses and new start up businesses. This is nothing more then what many of our EU neighbors are doing, and it works. As I see it though, we are all part of a shell game, the big problem is, you and I are under the shells.

Tommylee, I have never thought of it as Wall Street Casino, but that is exactly what it is. Yes, those who play will stay until the bitter end, thinking that today is the day and this will be the big one. No different then the lady in front of the coffe shop.
These are sad times too, many will lose it all thinking just this way. When they finally wake up it will be too late for them.

Tommy Lee, I agree one hundred percent. It is our fault, from start to finish. Is it too late to change things? Too late to right wrongs? I think it is never too late, but at some point you do have to get started and I think we may have seen the "on" switch flicked in a new movement.

I guess it is a little like allowing Captain Smith to continue at the helm of the RMS Titanic, in both cases the course has been plotted and the destination is certain. Perhaps it doesn't make that much difference who is at the helm. Going to be interesting alright. I never dreamed we as boomers would be part of history that will be taught and read for many years to come.
