In this era of near late stage capitalism, I want to iterate very heavily on how much I appreciate this incredible work of art that Sage, Velo, Cryoflower, PiraPiranha and Tiina put together being made available to us for free.

It turned me into a fan that purchased each and every book, which in turn made my daughter a fan as she vehemently read them (sometimes before me - which was a real sticking point with this last volume!)

Thank you all so very much! It was incredibly enjoyable and I can't wait to see what Sage does next.

P.S. I guess now that it's finished, it's time to update the about page with the "full list of references (under construction)" ;p

I don't know if its changed in the last 3 days, but in desktop view theres a huge "patreon" button in the top right. That said, it IS missing from the mobile view.

Google Glass never did anything wrong but people were massive assholes about it and we never figured out why about that in particular. It wasn't like Glass hid it when it was recording those shitty grainy images

But what he's done here is he's modeled, designed, and built the entire tiki drummer himself. While the concept is not his, the sculpture he has produced IS in its entirety his own and can be validly copy-written. You can't copyright a "portion" of a work. The whole work is copywritten

IANAL, but my understanding is such:

He could definitely register his copyright and pursue action, even though its a derivative. Disney would then probably counter-sue based on it being their IP. They're clearly both in the wrong, but it would come down to who owes who more.

I think Disney would have a much more difficult time proving any damages from his infringement, and he may (though unlikely) be able to defend it with the fair use doctrine.

Disney, on the other hand, would have 0 defenses to his using his work, although assuming Disney has good contracts, the liability would likely fall on the designer who "made" Disney's piece

It's definitely different - I've taken a liking to it myself after having it for a little while. A particular nicety is that if you misplace it, you can use your phone as a remote and go through settings and have it start beeping at you.

It's amusing that you point out Material You when it hasn't even added true conversation support. I can't share directly to a Google Voice contact nor can I use it with Google Assistant / Driving mode. It has the smallest modicum of Android Auto support.

I'm so disappointed but the lack of priority put into fixing up Google Voice. At this point I wish they were just a backend I could use for the Messages app. It'd reduce the necessary feature set by so much.

I was hopeful that with the Crunchyroll acquisition that Funimation would come back to it.

You say the CR app is better.. did they do a big update in the last couple of years. Before 2020 I recall it working a lot worse than VRVs (on Android TV at least)

One of my big issues with Driving Mode is that somehow it doesn't support Libby (it shows up but doesn't show any options - unlike Android Auto mode), and doesn't seem to do anything with Google Voice messages except pretend they're not happening

This one really took them long enough, but I was excited to see it when I opened the app yesterday.

They appeared in Google immediately, but it was not immediately clear that I needed to set a PIN in the Wyze app. I think that's something that either Google or Wyze needs to work on
