I remember discovering knitting blogs at about that time when I was off on maternity leave. I've enjoyed watching your journey & I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Re: Book Review & Giveaway: Knit to Flatter by Amy Herzog

I made some horribly boxy sweaters that did nothing at all for my figure. I donated most of them, and although I've got yarn and patterns for more appropriate projects I haven't taken the step of starting another sweater. Fear of failure, probably.

Re: Distrust of Doctors

I lucked into my excellent "see me when you need me" chiropractor at the advice of a co-worker. I don't know what I'll do when he retires. I've got a fantastic doctor whose kindness and listening skills have won me over. I've also got a dentist who scares me a bit, but I'm not sure where I should turn instead.

Being an advocate for your own care is the way to go. It is a hard-learned lesson with me & I make sure I've got copies of all of my tests. I keep a spreadsheet of everything over time comparing apples to apples, which can be very helpful.

Re: Merrick: Cabled hat pattern

You have every right to feel proud. I've also recently worked with Zen Yarn Garden Serenity 20 which was a pleasure to knit and I love the end result.

Re:

And I totally understand not wanting to drop a bundle at the first booth you see. I hope that works out well and gives you less stress and more flexibility.

The ties are gorgeous and almost make me wish I wore ties. (it's on order & I'm #10 in line).

Re: Help with an ad—win a pattern!

I like #1 - it shows the full pattern & length of the shirt.
#3 is a close second. The only thing that I would like to see changed it to make the title stand out more and not have your name fade away at the end.

I like to pop my potentials into a screen capture of the target page and flip between them to see which one jumps out most on the page. And then you can grab a more objective person to watch while you flip between them if you're second-guessing your gut.

Re: Name a New Color!

I'm with the calls for something golden/yellow - that's what seems to be drawing me in right now.

BTW, my husband, when glancing at the screen, observed that the shapes of the skeins reminded him of, well, poo. I'm so happy that Alexandre Bilodeau won the gold in the Men's Moguls. Now the ads & CTV coverage wondering about Canadian gold in Canada can end. Can't quite figure out what the magic ingredients are for the good kind of event.

Re: A Return to Moonlighting

Balance? I don't think I've got balance down yet, but compartmentalization is something that tends to make sure I get most of the important stuff done. Sometimes when I'm in different roles, though, I forget about commitments the "other" roles have made. When I get a crunch time I do what has to be done. If I resent a take or a role taking up too much time, I know it's time to drop or scale back that role.

Natalie
(mother, worker bee, adoptee rights activist, knitter, designer, political something-or-other ...)

Re: QueerJoe's Knitting Blog

Jealous of your haul there.
