Thorough review and helpful when I was researching an entry-level mirrorless (which is hard in 2023/2024 since there's a ton of overlapping and many of the best-rated models are 4-5 years old). As a former Canon Rebel owner, I picked the R50 and was very pleased with its performance in Greece- great quality, fantastic auto features and easy integration with phone via Canon Connect. I've shared my photos and experience on my blog willvideoforfood- and my only two complaints are: a) I had to buy a new zoom lense since Rebel version wasn't compatible, and b) the camera base is so small it took a while to get used to it (and I kept accidentally hitting buttons like the 3-second delay). Oh please. I thought this was about something important like the engine, gimbal, professor or video. It’s about the stupid way the blades attach? Sounds like an angry company trying to hang up dji in litigation.

Btw I’ve become obsessed with your blog ever since the Mavic air 2 rumors. I’ve got an unopened Mavic air 2 in my living room. Really feel like I should return it given the economic situation. I’ve already got a Mavic mini and feel this may be irresponsible to keep. Already tried to get a reimbursement authorization from DJI but haven’t heard back. Great company but not really well set up for direct commerce (mine came later than third parties delivered) and the customer service is lacking. The email confirmations on purchase look like Nigerian scam emails. Oh I’m ranting again.

Too bad wings can’t flap. And too bad they can’t avoid being shot out of the sky. Speaking for myself, I don’t find this “big brother” at all... but can understand why some feel otherwise. Sure someone could use it to spy or invade privacy. But that’s offset by reasonable use cases like law enforcement to keep an eye on people who break the law or feel like being a terrorist. Not crazy about the wall or border use, but that’s just because I can’t get over that whole “all welcome” thing that was a founding principle of the US. Now I’m ranting.

Poor move for DJI. Next time I’ll go with a retailer (where they make less money) since from comments below, it looks like they got it out sooner. If it was a day or two, I would stick with direct. But a week?! And I ordered from DJI website minutes after it was announced? Not too cool. Today is my birthday too. I’m so disappointed I might return it.

Ugh I ordered direct from DJI minutes after Mavic 2 Air was released. They shipped “on May 11” (just before midnight... and fed ex says it arrives on May 14th. So much for getting it early or even faster than retail.

Brewton is a great Southern town and can really benefit from Frank's leadership. I'm biased as his cousin, of course, but the man has a track record of leadership, knowledge of business, and he cares deeply about his family and community. :)

David- am I missing something? On one hand I've seen a TON of information that they're all from the same manufacturer. But I see some priced as high-end brands for north of $1000? Seems like a scam. Anyway thanks for this piece because it helped me buy my $292 one from Amazon (came yesterday and it's a blast).
