Judges are lawyers... and lawyers don't want computer programs to move in on their turf.

On the other hand... when it comes to more litigation, more obscure laws, and more people getting screwed by legal nonsense at the expense of common sense, these damn lawyers are all for it.

Truth is if you live in a major city AT&T is fast. I know people like to bash AT&T .. myself included because they are one of the big telco.. and they charge too much.

However, I have to say their 3G coverage has been very decent in and around major city. Its 3G speed is generally faster than Verizon due to the fundamental difference in their technologies. There are other articles out there that supports this. Verizon has better 3G coverage than AT&T in rural areas.... but when 3G is present it is faster.

No one wants to admit it but there is a big elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about.The real problem is that too much money is spent on cushy postal worker jobs. Everyone knows that postal worker's have great benefits, both during employment and after retirement.

The decline in usage of postal service is only one side of the problem. It is not the true problem. Although postal volume has declined in recent years, surely there was a time when postal volume in this country was at this current level. And yet.. postal service was able to provide Sat delivery without problems.

What has changed is that postal service has grown bigger and fatter than ever.
All those generous benefits to postal workers cost tax payers money. Postal service is a huge bureaucracy and has grown complacent and inefficient. That's fine when economy is booming and revenue is climbing ... but as with any federal agencies once there is excess dollar to spend the institution gets bigger to eat up those dollars. Then when the economy declines, you can't fire all those well entrenched workers.

The solution is a more competitive hiring practices, pay cuts, less wasteful employee benefits. Close some local offices.. and yes even stop Sat delivery if you have to. Just don't spend any more of our tax payer dollar doing it.

tomgl 50k base pay, with overtime pay, with full health benefit, and retirement benefits...etc is not a bad deal. If you disagree... quit. I'm sure that there are many others who would be happy to take your job in this economy. Just remember what your job requirement is. 18 year old, able to walk, and basic english comprehension.

And yes USPS has received and is asking for more government (Taxpayer) money. Estimated $25 billion dollars over 8 years. Lest you forget who you are employed by, it's not your 'supervisors' with even more cushy jobs than you. It is your customers, the tax payers.

I rather buy a tablet that is better designed hardware, that has better software.... and made by an american company.
In other words... I'll get the iPad.

Sure the iPad and iPhone are assembled by Foxconn in China... but Foxconn only makes a few bucks for assembly of each device. Apple earns most of the profit. I don't always "buy American" but when the product is clearly superior, it sure feels good to buy american!

Factory workers in china are thrilled to have a job and the standard of living that far exceeded what they had just a few years ago. Don't apply your ignorant, conceited mentality to the rest of the world. Just because not all factory worker can sit on their lazy fat ass drinking beer and watch Monday night football as we do here in the US ...doen't mean they are slave workers. Countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan all went through a period of transition from low wage, low skill labor before gradually into high tech. Hell... US went through the same thing.

Yes, Samsung makes many of the components in iPads. Like any high tech electronics today, when you open up and iPad, it is filled with components from around the world, most of which are produced in asia by the likes of Samsung, LG, TSMC, but there are also chips from US like Broadcom and TI and some european corps as well. The total cost of components is estimated to be about $260-$280 by iSuppli. So even with cost of R&D, marketing, distribution etc... Apple still makes a decent profit on each unit that far exceeds any of the component makers.

When you open up a Kimchi phone from Korea, will you find more american made components inside? No!

So my point is all things being equal, by buying an iPad at least you are rewarding Apple, which is an american company for its innovation, ingenuity, excellent design. If you don't believe in these philosophies... fine go buy a Kimchi phone or tablet.

USPS is full of overpaid, well entrenched managers and supervisors with cushy jobs and some of the best tax payer sponsored benefits. Before those out their affiliated claim that USPS is a independent agency and doesn't get tax payer's money... That used to be true but in recent years that is no longer the case. Whether it is actual payment or "exemptions" or deferrals for health benefit payments, the USPS is no longer able to support itself.

It needs to cut the dead weight and move on. Let us not forget the job requirement for USPS is one of the lowest of many industry. One simply needs to understand "some" english. No college degree, no highschool diploma, no GED... nothing.

Not sure why people are falling for HP's PR spin.
Selling 5000 units between now and next year is pathetic. Apple currently sells about 5 million iPad a quarter or about 50,000 iPad a day. In other words, Apple will sell 10 time more iPad in a single day then HP will produce and sell between now and next year.

The media outlets are being tricked by HP into giving positive PR of excess demand. The reality is there is little if any demand and even more pathetic production.
