", says it ALL. 'Pass the buck', find someone to blame, 'we're just a pipeline - conduit, we have NO control over content.', 'n other 'explanations' = EXCUSES distress me as much as, if not MORE than the commercial advertisers that 'think' their LOUD ads will attract my attention. ha

What they do, is motivate me to pick up the remote control and MUTE everything until the program resumes. Of course I miss other commercials (including those that are NOT yelling at me-us), and sometimes part of the program content if I am not looking - in the room!

When an advertiser delivers an ad whose audio has been companded, compressed, and/or levels boosted, I don't want, expect, NOR ask the network, cable channel to alter the graphics, the words, etc.! All I ask (expect = DEMAND) is the volume be same (ALL VARIABLES) as the program content! If anyone would like to argue - debate - assert that is altering 'content', then speak up.

Re: Satellite TVRO Part 1

Excellent background info with just the right amount of 'detail'. I've worked in the DTH / TVRO industry since 1984. This first article is one of the best I've had the pleasure to read.
