First, let me say... I am very sorry for your loss, and you will be in my thoughts & prayers...
I lost my grandparents in similar fashion.. First Gpa in 2001, and then Gma in 2006... Both were in the hospital, drugged so they "wouldn't be in pain". The last memory I have of both of my grandparents is them, lying in bed, not moving, not conscious, looking like their skin was just there on their face... They didn't look like my Gpa or Gma... For both of them, the process took a couple of months, and I too wondered if they truly were not in pain, or it was just that the doctors were guessing that because they were "sleeping". I wish I had one last moment to tell them how much I loved them, and know that they heard me...

Your post is very valid... I only hope that by the time I get that age, that I will pass on quickly, in my sleep, in my own home...

Hi Melanie!!

My dad was very involved in my life growing up. One thing I can never thank him enough for is taking the time every night to go over my homework with me. I know there are many things Daddy taught me that I've used in my adult life... i.e. fixing cars, woodworking, etc... I love it
Now, my hubby is very involved with our girls. He loves taking them to the bookstore, or teaching them how to do computer programming. Just the other weekend while I was away, they were all out in the garage building kid sized workbenches for the girls so they could work with Daddy in the garage. My hubby is doing all he can to give the girls what he never had from his father.. I love that he's so awesome with the girls...

OK.. i missed Jessica's post, but saw yours come across twitter... All I have to say about that video is wow... just wow... i would NEVER let my girls dress or dance like that... It actually makes me more than glad that they did not end up taking dance this past year... Instead, we put them in Martial Arts classes... WHO in their right mind would let their children go on stage in those clothes and do those dance moves at that age??? really??? I am with you... If my kids came home with "costumes" like those I'd have stood up too.

Yes... they are talented girls.. but so are the dancers on DWTS and I don't see super slutty dances like that... Well.. even Pam Anderson came on the show and performed cleanly..

I'm so scared of what my girls are exposed to... They're going to be going to school this coming Fall, and it scares me that I won't be able to control what they watch... and no.. they don't watch music videos... They watch Mythbusters...

I'm kinda in this blur right now myself, between my kids, my home, working, and everything else... I don't have myself anymore... I'm thinking it's time to Un-Blur myself and maybe I'll be able to hear myself think again...

They just credited me.. so i won't have to pay a bill for what.. a year-ish?

You know... for home phone, we have Vonage. It's cheap enough, and it gives us everything we had with the phone company and more. There are also less expensive options, like Skype or Magic Jack, but I always need a house phone since we don't have unlimited cell minutes & a lot of people we know aren't on the same network anymore... plus.. my cell service BITES at home, so rather than deal with dropped calls all day.. i use the house phone... :)

We re-use a lot of things too! I love that we now have a recycle
program here. It was weird when we first moved out here and they

You know.. I think everyone needs a good cry every now and then. Sometimes things become so overwhelming that you don't have time to really think. When you do finally get some downtime, everything kinds floods you. You can't help it...
The thoughts you have about your dad, and you.. I have similar about my mom and me.. She battled depression at one point in her life... and I work hard not to fall into it.. I look for things to keep me going so I don't hit that "low"... The kids are a big help.. well, most of the time :)

I'm sorry! I have a teacher like that too. My 4th grade teacher. She actually helped foster my love for music & singing... Without her, I probably never would've had the courage to get on a stage and perform in musicals... ((hugs))
