I have a friend with diverticulitis who tells me he "cannot eat nuts or much fiber" but his coffee every morning with an over the counter fiber supplement is what his doctor allows. Then another friend with Crohn's disease - similar argument. And another with all kinds of issues including RA (rhumatoid arthritis) who says she cannot "eat salads", nuts or seeds, etc. Naturally, I recommend smoothies or fresh juices, especially wheatgrass... but that all falls on deaf ears, and that's IF they don't feel the need to argue the point first! Oh and let's not forget that I am not a "doctor with ten years of education" to my credit, as the first friend told me. How in the world could I dare compete with what their doctors have told them - hear my sarcasm! Oh it gets so frustrating that sometimes I have to take several days off from answering any questions near to these folks, or offering any advice at all when these same folks complain of their illnesses in front of me.
I am still trying to figure out ways to avoid confrontations and just love these folks through their misery. I pray for them and tell myself it is not up to me to save them - but that's hard for me. I want to help people!
So, thank you again y'all for this post. It definitely hits home for me...
big hugs!

Re: Wendi’s Health Update

As always I am so impressed with you Wendi, and you too Jim! You're real, you're genuine, in pleasure or in pain, you give us all so much! I love you for your open and willing attitude of sharing - Wendi, even when you're in pain my dear! What love and giving that is!

I'm so glad your MD is willing to accept your wishes and work with you in this. That is awesome. And rare in my experience. I found relief to my "mystery" pain via acupuncture but I have no idea if it works at all on bacterial infections. I will pray and send healing vibrations that if the radical treatment does not work you'll be led to another that will. Or that spontaneous healing will occur. Either way, as I told my doctors, I don't care to know what my mystery pain was as long as it's gone.
Much love, peace, and happy Thanksgiving (whatever and however it shapes up to be with all of this going on).
sheila

Re: The Journey to a Diagnosis

Why people stay with incompetent doctors is a mystery to me - surely they've heard about malpractice insurance?!?! I loved your article and hope it continues to raise awareness that people need to read, research, and question their medical professionals anytime they have health issues. Don't listen to one or even two but continue until you find the most appropriate diagnosis for you. We all have heard the statement "get a second opinion" but sadly many do not to their own detriment. I am glad you found someone who knows what they are doing and listens to you. I posted the link to this on my Facebook page too!
Love and prayers to you all :)

Re: Makin’ It Monday: Kimchi and Sauerkraut !

Once again groundbreaking for us! We buy kimchi from our local Asian restaurant (they make it for themselves but since we're friends, they now make it for us - it's not on their menu!) but I had been curious about making it since I make cole slaw all the time and thought, hmmm how different could it be? (as far as the prep part is concerned). Now, thanks to y'all I won't be afraid to give it a whirl. :)
Maybe my next youtube video will be of how I make it. I love the Louise Hay book also. It has helped me to "allow" more. She is very wise. You Can Heal Your Life is the one I have from her.
Thank you Wendi, you've helped me so much in my raw food journey... You and Jim! I would never have tried to hack open a coconut without Jim's video for example! :)
and tell KDkat that an MIT biochemist Raymond Francis is who I got the science from (go to Law of Attraction talk radio and seek his episode to hear him) but in my prayers when I was very sick with a flu 5 years ago I was told in my spirit to tell the virus to leave my body! I did and was almost to the point of feeling as I would die - long story with my history of asthma. All of that is behind me but I learned so much from that.
Much love,
Sheila

Re: Want Some *Free* Hemp Seed Oil?

Very cool - as I was going to order anyway now you'll be sure to receive the credit for my order! I would add, prayer, Reiki, and essential oils - apply directly to the skin especially where you were. Bitten and areas where there is pain, raindrop therapy, etc. I just had a mini health thing going on and the last thing I did before my pain started going away was pray and rub in frankincense, mryhh and other on the pain area.
I absolutely believe in speaking to your body cells / genes and commanding this pain / bacteria to LEAVE the body.
Love

Re: RSF East — Viktoras Kulvinskas

Hi Jim, no I am not full on vegan but I believe that will be in my life path someday! I still eat fish (mostly raw sashimi - which is sushi without the rice) and occasionally kosher kill lamb - twice a year so far, and kosher kill turkey, again just on holiday so twice a year. I have still been known to eat some cooked vegetables, such as mashed or baked potato. Otherwise I am raw. I consider myself high raw because nearly most of the time I adhere to the raw diet. My days consist of a raw smoothie with homemade raw almond mylk, and snacks are all superfoods or dehydrated crax with vegan cheezz. Lunch is also raw vegetables, dinner is where the fish comes in. Most nights sashimi but some nights I do have a broiled fish - and all fish I eat I adhere to my "eat right for my blood type" diet. The blood type diet has worked extremely well for my husband so I follow it as well. As a note, that's why the turkey and lamb because that's what AB blood type allows for, along with specific varieties of fish. I do also subscribe to the environmentalist fish chart so I only eat wild alaskan salmon, not farmed salmon, and so forth - obviously when I can find out where the fish came from. I am doing that for my belief in sustainable fishing. :) I am part American Indian, therefore that is where my belief in kosher kill, and giving thanks for all creatures comes from. Since no one IMHO can really 100% know for sure if an animal feels fear (I am a pet owner and would never for sport harm an animal) I am suspect that we tend to ascribe too many human attributes to animals. I do not see a need for animal cruelty as cruelty begets cruelty but if someone can use as much as an animal for food, leather, etc. that is why I am not vegan at this point because I think that is ok. But use as much as the animal as possible, and primarily as food as needed, and provide as much love and respect as possible in the quick kosher kill of the animal. The greed and needless waste of corporate animal farming I believe is where we as a people have totally gone off course.

Re: RSF East — Viktoras Kulvinskas

I'm glad I hung in there after the first couple minutes because I loved everything after. I think the first couple minutes will scare away some of my SAD diet friends, and maybe even the transitioning ones! While I do believe animals "feel" and that they've been shot full of antibiotics, growth hormones, etc I am not so sure about some of the other things Viktoras was talking about. And while I abhor factory animal "farming" methods, I was raised with the "thin the herd" methodology and quick kill techniques for deer, cattle, chickens, turkeys, lamb, and other small family farm and wild game. I believe the intention and gratefulness for all that we do in regard to meat consumption (and in all things really) is more where it's at. But that's only IMHO. :)
Much love!

Re: Pure Jeevan Explores the Raw Food Community’s Agave Nectar Controversy

Excellent post my friends...and my approach is this: Common sense dictates that agave is ok because the plant it comes from grows and prospers in daily heat well over 118 degrees (in so far as I know). I don't use very much of it, none some days, other days, 2 T (that is 1 T in my breakfast smoothie and 1 T in my raw cacao and coconut oil dessert in the evening). I've been consistently losing weight, detoxifying, and experiencing improved health in all respects. I so agree with you that without agave, I would have had a much more difficult transition from a mostly healthy diet to raw. I've used a sum total of only a couple of tablespoons honey or maple syrup in the last six months or so - and that was only until I found agave. So for me, I'm pro-agave. I use the blue agave if that matters.

Re: Upcoming Raw Spirit Festivals: Save the Dates!

Prescott is sooo nice, I encourage all to go if they can. You and Jim both look young!

I am curious as to your raw apple pie recipe - I make one also, from a modified one I found online and instead of grating or slicing up all the apples for the filling (and since I am lazy in that regard) I make the filling in my Vita-Mix so it's more like a thick raw applesauce. I took it to our last raw potluck though and it held up very well, even after an hour drive to get there and sitting on the table for an hour or more! Now, my banana blueberry pie though, that was another story! It tasted good but it didn't set up quite as thick as I'd have liked for it to so if you have a recipe for one of those I'm all ears. :)

Re: Pure Jeevan Heads Out of Town: Raw Roadtripping Vids to Come!

In regard to your tomato and basil planting, er, shall I say, non-planting I think you made the best decision to forgo it for now. My son and daughter in law put in a wonderful small garden at their house this year and then their landlord died! Now they have to somehow manage to move everything (half grown now) and move to another home. So, planned or not, these things happen and since you know you'll be moving your wise to put your thoughts and energies toward that. IMHO.
The best to you all -
sheila

Re: Pure Jeevan Heads Out of Town: Raw Roadtripping Vids to Come!

Hi Jim, could you share your experience in regard to raw cacao and high blood pressure? My husband had been having it in his morning raw green and banana smoothie everyday for 3 months and then two weeks ago his BP went up for some reason every morning and all we could deduce was the cacao. (Though we are still testing to see what else could have had affected it/him). And if this is not where you'd like to post something about all this I understand and feel free to repost my comment elsewhere if at all - but we would be extremely grateful for your thoughts.

Re: Orlando’s Gone Raw at Café 118

We're so thankful you're in Orlando Cafe 118! I want to order some but want to ensure you get the credit and I didn't notice any particular difference in the URL link (like a specific distributor or affiliate number) when I went to their site, then the order form. Just checking!
Also, I'd heard about Natural Zing from a gal who leads one of our raw food groups here in Florida so I had went to their site initially and placed a large order, then later, saw you all are an affiliate. Obviously I know we can't go backwards but I wanted to let you know that all future orders we make (because WOW we love that online store, whole experience from order, to receiving the shipment, and the taste of the food(s), was spectacular!) will order via clicking on their link on your site here or from the purejeevan site. Of course our morning smoothing is the Raw Cacao / Banana - or some derivative thereof that I prepare in a youtube vid.

But yes these green powders, we really like them because even in sunny Florida, depending upon what store or farm has what to offer, we just can't get ALL of these ingredients fresh, much less organic. So we spend the $30-$40 whatever dollars on these canisters of powder (one I order online, and am also a distributor for - the other I buy from my chiropractor/kinesiology doctor).

I wanted to agree with the comment about how we all need healthy fats, from nuts, oils, coconuts, etc. but am wondering if 10% will truly be enough. So, yes this is going to be an interesting experiment for you. :)

To all of us, living our best day ever,
sheila

EDITED to remove links

Re: My Raw Story: Zee Charnoe

I must admit that I had to read through your story twice Zee! I have had folks comment to me that they "couldn't ever NOT go to a medical doctor again" and now, after digesting your article I don't think I ever want to go to a medical doctor again!

OK for folks who do not understand what I am saying - I don't want to be sued when someone thinks I am telling them what NOT to do! But for me and my house, we're abstaining from medical people who do not care, have no concern, and do not know more than us NOW on how to take care of our bodies. We've abdicated that paradigm!

A local MD to us, in a group practice, couldn't even bother to call my husband in another "necessary" prescription of beta blockers when the pharmaceutical company ran out and had both the label and generic pills on back order to all pharmacies three months ago (maybe they laid off too many people who knows?!) but everyone around us kept saying "oh you can't miss a day of your beta blockers" yet my husbands MD office couldn't get another prescription to him. We found out later his doctor had been away on vacation! But this was all meant to happen because it got my husbands attention to the fact that they don't care. And since we'd been graced to have met another acupuncture physician (my former one had left the area) well, hubby decided on his own, to make an appointment, go there for treatment, get off all caffeine, go gluten-free, drop alcohol, etc. It was a dramatic change but he didn't stroke out, or have a heart event (as so many people had suggested he might have).

I proud of you Zee, and I'm very proud of my hubby, for acknowledging what your body needs, and what it doesn't. Woo-hoo!!! Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!
sheila
mindxdreamz.com
Survivor of 5 asthma / allergy meds and asthma shots that didn't work!

I am so glad for your health recovery Zee, and for your sharing it!

Re: My Raw Story: Nancy Osborne

I am so loving the next to the last paragraph!!!
