First thing that struck me was the change in the demographic, definitely a 'younger' crowd than the 90's and the bikes!? :). Back then the soundsystem was supplied by a large ghetto blaster on the back of some mohicaned Punks cycle, now i see it's some 'Surfer' dude with an tiny MP3 player.
Hopefully i should be at the July one and i'm hoping to get a bikecam up and running by then (if eBay pulls it's finger out).

Midge (far left in piccie)

http://about.me/midge

Re: Collin’s Lab: The REAL Breadboard

Excellent stuff, reminds me of my first introduction to electronics in the 70's with a Ladybird book (a popular series kids titles in the UK).
A similar concept except it was a board with two rows of about 8 screws fitted with screw cup washers. You trapped the legs of the components under the washers to make connections. Plenty of times i've seen a little known (at least to me) act, got home and despite my drinking habits of the night i can determine within a click of a mouse their misheard name, their lineup, hear the studio recordings they've done, read a bio, see where their playing next, see their influences, message them and so on. Music industry 'whizz-kids' putting it down are surely once again falling into the trap of thinking they can dictate to the punters how they should interact with creatives and therefore setting themselves up for the same failings.

(Just to add i find a missheard name by Googling the venueand date :) )

Re: Cramps? In the real world speakers are anything but isotropic and are designed to pump sound wave energy out roughly in one direction so the calculation needs to be tweaked accordingly. Another side note is that there's another pub down the road from the Rainbow (which shall remain nameless) which occasionally has some impressive speaker stacks and DJ's set up in the beer garden, i'm wondering if the complainants have actually heard this and mistook the noise for the Rainbow. Moot point anyhoo as the original point still stands, why bloody move to an established area of live interest then moan when the Cockrel crows!?.
all the best Midge

Re: theaardvark - Can anyone tell me what this song is and why it is...

The answers here... http://tinyurl.com/auv2ah
And there's a Youtube DIY video here... http://tinyurl.com/dlr7yv

Re: Tracking comments with Delicious.com

Cheers for this, i've just registered with delicious and wondering how i could make it 'work'.

Re: 3.3.4

Definitely more independant shops, my understanding is that business rates are the big obstacle here pushing small retailers further outside the City Centre. I'd just like to touch on the 'FAMILY CITY' subsection. Birmingham has a recent history of redevelopments who bring in an influx of people who then object to the 'vibrant' centre hubub that was sold to them in the first place. At least one Pub has been closed via this scenario and now some of Digbeth's entertainment centre's are facing a similar threat. I'm not sure how attracting families to a City Centre squares with also providing entertainment to the cross section of Brums nightlife?, can a 'living' modern City Centre really be family friendly?.

Midge (ex Fiddle and Bone regular)

Re: Gigbeth, it’s some gigs, in Digbeth

If anyone thinks Gigbeths a bit 'unfocused' for the entry fee then Einstellung can be seen for free tomorrow at the Walsall art gallery as part of the Home Of Metal project doing a Black Sabbath inspired set.

http://www.capsule.org.uk/e...

Re: BH-X-Ray BHX-Rated

Re: Magnetic train thing?. it was decided some years back that magnets were the tool of Victorian shamens, it's now driven by wires smoke and mirrors.

Re: Don’t know much about Yardley Wood

This buskers a Brum legend.
