'we' is making some interesting assumptions in this word. 'We' doesn't mean the same thing during ethnic cleansing as it does during peace time.

Getting out of this hole requires the reversal of several entrenched problems that aren't ticking in the right direction.. 1 - Slow or reverse the mechanisms of wealth disparity and mass impoverishment that fuels reactionary populism. 2 - investment in civic institutions and thus the corresponding faith in same. 3- environmental collapse is going to aggravate 60 years of disinvestment leading to mass casualties and displacement. 4 - Collapse of the rule of law leading to corrupt judiciary and pliant social instructions. I can see Putanism from my house.

I dont mean to point out the obvious here, but you made the mistake of being a femme. My professor wife frequently has college students, male and female that chafe (although in slightly different ways) at an authoritative woman being the head of class.

Chauvanism is weirdly crippling for some. And it looks exhausting from the sidelines to have to build credibility from below zero one class after another just to get them educated.
