The only selling pressure exerted on the stock comes from the company issuing shares (and insiders cashing out their shares).

Until there's a mechanism for third parties to express, and participate in, the bearish case for $FBOOK, there's nothing keeping its valuation at a sober equilibrium.

Re: Twelve Days In The Middle East

Nice.

I've been hankering for a Daya'a shawarma for 5 years.

Re: From Russia With Profits?

Sorry... $FML as in F My Life... My fear is that more bubbles (and more potentials for crashes) could create opportunities for apocalypse.

That's a scary echo chamber to imagine.

Re: The Fabulous 5 – Netflix, Chipiotles, Baidu, MercadoLibre and LuLuLemon

Awesome - i've been waiting for some new posts here.

Good post. Even if they made many many other lives easier/better.

LP's would pull their funds (and maybe sue), I would lose my awesome VC job, many cool companies wouldn't get funded, and my family would likely have to downgrade their lifestyle.

What I think this post is saying is "We want our companies to build communities because they lead to profits." I would add "And we make profits because they lead to even better things for ourselves and those around us."

Re: Platforms As Governments

If only real governments showed such restraint in spending as Craigslist...

Re: Review: AT&T 3G MicroCell

Looks like it's time for email bankruptcy, too... : )

Re: Markets Gapping Up Big Investing With Options

The 2000's were all about lolcats.

I think the 2010's might just be the voldogs decade.

Count it!

Re: Multi-Function Printer Follow-up

I'm beginning to be a little put off at companies that make a bunch of models. I called it "student equity financing" - somewhat less sexy than human equity.

There was a paper published by Cato a while back - www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa462... - that mentions a company called My Rich Uncle, which originated some of these (Cato calls em Human Capital Contracts). I think their vehicle was a company called Iempower - http://nyti.ms/8YgUcO - about which I could find scant information...

Give em a call - Raza Khan and Vishal Garg - see what they learned.

Re: Do Network Effects Span Geographies?

This was my first thought - what about the local nuances that may be lost on foreign entrants?

But then my next thought was, how "locked up" is that information?
