We look forward to our continued excellent partnerships with Redmond Police and Fire to inform and educate our readers.

Re: Redmond’s ‘eco-entrepreneur’ opens Pizza Fusion on Seattle's Capitol Hill - Redmond Reporter

I checked with the owners of Seattle's Pizza Fusion and the flooring is from Garfield High School. But you are correct that Garfield is not in Wallingford; that information came from Pizza Fusion's corporate office in Florida. Thanks for your interest and sorry for the confusion.

Re: Don’t judge others, make new friends - Bothell Reporter

I am a staff writer for the Redmond Reporter and formerly wrote for the Bothell and Kenmore Reporters. I liked Ilena Adamson's column and I applaud her for having the wisdom and maturity to notice that students who humiliate others to make themselves look important are actually very insecure. At some point in life, this girl who ridiculed the boy in front of all her friends may find out firsthand how it feels to be put down. Very often, it is true that bullies will "reap what they sow." But whether or not this happens to this particular mean girl, it's still a good policy to heed what Ilena suggested: "Do not be afraid to sacrifice your reputation for your character. Someone who values their reputation more than their character, to me, is the biggest coward there is." Well said!

Re: How strip malls can end the atrocity of ethnic cleansing - Redmond Reporter

We have a contact person from the student's family and I am trying to get more information about the medical emergency that occurred. The school district spokesperson told us that the boy is doing well.

Mary Stevens Decker
Staff Writer, Redmond Reporter
NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS: mdecker@redmond-reporter.com
(425) 867-0353 extension 5052

Re: How strip malls can end the atrocity of ethnic cleansing - Redmond Reporter

I am a writer at the Redmond Reporter and have stated my opinion on another of Jeremy Greenberg's columns —one joking about the Holocaust — that I don't find him funny. I agree with you that he is offensive.

Re: Redmond High School cheer coach dismissed; rumors swirl - Redmond Reporter

It is true that some people's children have been indirectly identified by way of their parents' quotes. However, these parents agreed to be quoted in the community newspaper, knowing that readers (or at least some other Redmond High School parents) would figure out who their kids were. These parents felt strongly about what they wanted to say — on what they believed to be supportive of their own children. And they went on the record without fear.
That is a very different situation than allowing anonymous parents to publicly humiliate other people's minor children. That is why our editor, publisher and I all agreed that these cruel comments must be removed from the blog.
As our editor Bill Christianson stated, please use this forum in a civil and mature fashion. Please think about what you are saying before you say it. Please think about how your vicious insults against each other, and even more importantly, about each other's kids, are hurtful and damaging not only to your own family but to the community as a whole.
Thank you — and let us all hope for a kinder and more peaceful week ahead.

Re: Redmond High School cheer coach dismissed; rumors swirl - Redmond Reporter

The editor and publisher of the Redmond Reporter decided to remove those comments because we all agreed that it was reprehensible for this person to drag Ronda Thomas' innocent children through the mud.
It is absolutely cowardly and hateful for a so-called responsible adult to trash the reputation of children who have nothing to do with this horrible situation. But of course, eastsidemom has not identified herself.
What kind of "role model" is this parent who would attack innocent children and will not name herself?
If you would like to question why this posting was removed, feel free to contact our editor Bill Christianson or our publisher Andrea Southern at the following e-mail addresses:
bchristianson@redmond-reporter.com
asouthern@redmond-reporter.com

Re: Redmond High School cheer coach dismissed; rumors swirl - Redmond Reporter

What is your name and phone number or e-mail address? A couple of days ago, I received a voicemail from a woman who said, "There is more to this story ... Ronda Thomas has a long history of impropriety." But she hung up without leaving her name or phone number.
I am certainly willing to listen to another side of this story if the person or persons who made allegations against Ronda Thomas will come forward, give their name(s) and go on the record to explain why they thought her behavior was improper or dangerous.
Leaving an anonymous phone message doesn't help and is cowardly.

Re: Economic crisis remedy: Another Great Depression | Jeremy Greenberg - Redmond Reporter

Am I the only person who is disgusted by a comedic reference to the Holocaust?
